      Electric Water Pumps?

Hey guys, just curious, what is the advantage of an electric water pump besides it not being driven by the crank? Are these for street or just strip?

Personally I see no advantage to them They draw a good deal of amperage which in turn requires running an alternator so you have not eliminated any belt drive while at the same time you have added a significant amount of load to the charging system. I won't even get into the cost.

I mean you need to run an alternator anyways, I really don't think the 6-7 amps the Meziere heavy duty pump uses is a significant load on my set up.

From what I remember, the draw on an alternator for an electric water pump equates to roughly 1 hp. Not exactly a huge draw.

They're fine, lots of people running them on street cars with 30k+ miles. Not much benefit though unless you're running 7,000+ rpm. I have one i plan on running.
