      Fresh engine and Fuel Injection

I have a freshly rebuilt 401 Nailhead that I plan on running a commander 950 TBI system on, would it be wise to start and do the initial break in of the engine with a carb????

Are you talking about a brand new engine in general or a brand new engine with an uncalibrated ECM?

I have been careful of this issue as I have heard the rich mixtures from efi systems can wash the rings out. I usually use a plagarized calibration from a similar engine as a start point.

I am concerned about this now as I will be firing up my 540 soon, and I have to depend on Accel's calibration builder to get me started. Will Calmap get me close enough to fire the engine safely?

If you have an experienced efi tuner or are one, and are careful not a big deal IMO.

If you have never tuned FI, then starting on fresh motor probably isn't good idea.

Thanks for the responses guys, i have NO experience with efi, and kind of figured it would be better to break in a fresh engine with the original carb,, just kind of fishin for idea's and other thoughts!!!! Thanks
