Forgeline Flush Loc Centerlock Conversion Kit

I get asked often to explain the details of our Flush-Loc centerlock conversion kit. And awhile back, I had responded to a specific thread that has since been buried. So to make things easier to find, I'm going to post that old response here as it's own thread. So here is what you might want to know about the Forgeline Flush-Loc Centerlock Conversion kit:

The kit includes custom-machined hub adapters (more on that in a minute), special drive pin lug nuts, the main center locking nuts (hex or GT-style), the Flush Loc end caps, and then the tools necessary to install and remove everything (center hex nut socket, optional GT nut adapter, the Flush Loc end cap socket, and a 24 inch breaker bar).

So the critical thing about the main hub adapter is that they are each individually machined and drilled to fit your vehicle's hub. So the raw adapters sit on our shelf as universal blanks, shown in the photo above. Once we get an order and know the hub specs, then we machine the back side of the adapter to slide over the original hub spindle, and we drill the adapter flange with holes to slide over the original lug studs.

When you get your specific custom-machined kit, then you simply slide the adapter over the original hub and secure it with the provided drive pin lug nuts. These are a lug nut that is half hexagonal nut and half smooth pin. Just tighten these to the original factory torque spec. The important part of the drive pin is that your wheels and your conversion kit have both been engineered to work together. So your wheels will have holes machined into the back of the mounting pad to receive the drive pins. This serves as your torque transfer mechanism.

Then you secure the wheel to the adapter using the main center nut. You can choose either the standard hex nut or the optional splined GT nut. The GT nut is shown in the photo above. And if you opt for the GT nut, then we provide an extra tool to adapt the spline to the hex socket tool. The torque spec is 300 lbs-ft. We provide a 24 inch breaker bar and typically just assume that our average user will apply 100% of their weight to the bar, so as long as they weigh 150 lbs or more, then they'll safely hit the spec. The hub adapters are separately threaded left and right. If installed correctly, then the main center nut should be getting tighter, as the car drives forward.

The final part of the kit is the small Flush Loc cap. This serves as a final safety to prevent the main nut from backing off (not that it ever would, unless you spend a lot of time driving in reverse) and as a decorative end cap to cover up the hole, in the end of the adapter snout.

Here is a shot of the hub adapter and drive pins installed on Bob Bertelsen's "Brute Force" Camaro.

And then with the wheels installed with the hex nut and Flush Loc cap.

The Flush Loc Conversion Kit currently retails for $2200. That is the complete 4-corner kit shown above, NOT per wheel. See more at: http://www.forgeline.com/products/ce...onversion.html

We don't charge any extra to make the wheel itself centerlock. But obviously, we engineer both the conversion kit and the wheel to work together, so we do not sell the kit ala carte. We assume that the kit and wheels are being ordered, engineered, and custom-machined together.

So by doing this you could technically male any center locking wheel be interchangeable with any car as log as you have the correct hub adapter?

      No. For lots of reasons.
      1. That wheel needs the right center bore to fit over the adapter.
      2. The wheel needs to be machined with holes on the back of the mounting pad that are the right size and in the right place to slide over the drive pins.
      3. The wheel would need to have the correct fitment in terms of width, backspace, offset to account for both the specs of your car plus the thickness of the hub adapter.

There is a lot of engineering that is required to make all parts of this puzzle fit together. As noted above: we do NOT sell the kit ala carte. We engineer both the kit and the wheels to work together for each specific vehicle application.

For those who prefer a more visual explanation of how the kit works, this video should help. Technically, this video features the original conversion kit with the longer adapter snout. The new Flush Loc kit has a shorter snout and looks a little tidier. But the mechanical explanation is exactly the same.

I'm interested in this conversion and also a custom set of wheels (in 18" to look like Pontiac Rally IIs). The link to your site is no longer valid, do you still offer this?
