      EPAS in first gen camaro

Just wondering if anybody has tried adapting either an EPAS steering column into a first gen camaro, or maybe used an electric power assisted rack from a late model camaro in a first gen.

It seems to make sense to remove the hydraulic system from the engine compartment.

I see there are kits available through jegs etc for a column mount EPAS, but it looks like they require a fair bit of work to make them fit and operate.

Anyone done a conversion with parts available from the junkyard?

This technology has been around long enough that i thought i'd see it being used in the pro-touring scene by now?

I think that Andrew is adapting EPAS to his Cougar right now, not sure if that will help you any. Look for the threads over the last few days.

A lot of Mustang and other Ford guys are doing this. There is all kinds of information available. I am planning on doing a Prius EPAS in my Cougar. I have all the parts, just need time to actually do the fab work.

I have modified a few columns and have installed them as well.
I have the system in my 66 Corvette.

It works great and does eliminate any potential issues with hydraulics and really cleans up the engine well.

If you need something, let me know, I am a deal for them.
If you did not want to tackle the column modification, etc. I can do that for you as well.

      Hope that helps.

This idea is really interesting to me. I would really like to get more information on this for a future upgrade on my project. Any ballpark dollar figures on the parts. I can take the fabrication. Can someone list the parts required? I would be more interested in the Toyota parts. Subscribing.

2004-2009 Toyota Prius column and matching control box. Both can be had at the junk yard for under $100. The control box lives under the dash cover just to the left of the steering wheel. Make sure you get all of the connectors that go to the control box. These are hard to find.
