      Texas Speed

First I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum. What is everyone's experience with Texas Speed turn key engines? I've been emailing them for the last three weeks and have had some response but they are very very slow in getting back to me. I called them and talking on the phone with them almost felt like I was an inconvenience.

Sounds like they don't want your business. Trust your instincts and move on.

Some of our friends have been running their cams for over a decade with no complaints. We sourced a shortblock from them for our 418 stroker and I have no complaints about the shortblock. No experience with a complete turnkey engine though.

They have cnc'd 3 sets of heads for me. I'm running one of their stage 2 ls3 camshafts in my camaro, and a stage 3 low lift truck cam in our LS1 firebird. They do all their machining in house now. The LS3 cam is the quietest, valvetrain wise, of any hi lift cam I have ever used. They have also flashed a couple ecm's for me. I have always called them so I cant speak for their email response. I have been happy with everything they have done for me. But if you had a bad experience, it cant hurt to shop around. I had a phone convo with a DSE employee a few years back that felt the same way you described. I hesitated to call back, but did. I got a different person the second time, and he was very helpful.

No turn key experience, but have bought various items from Texas speed. I've talked to three different guys, two were great, one definitely had more important things to do than talk to me. Don't give up, I personally think they're worth doing business with. I wish I could remember the names of the good guys for my own future experiences, but I can barely remember my own name sometimes.

I have had numerous dealings with Texas Speed including CNC heads and have had no problems. All my dealings with them have been very positive.

Man I would say some of the best customer service. I send them emails all the time and get responses back usually the next day. If you have been calling or emailing them for weeks and don't seem serious, I would get tired of talking to you too. Texas Speed is probably the largest LS engine specialist out there. The internet likes to push people to places like American Heritage Performance but those guys are nowhere the size, experience, and capability as Texas Speed. They dyno test and engineer their own stuff. I have their CNC heads and 228r cam on my LS1 (460rwhp). My ls7 heads are going to be done by them and going to run their stage 2 cam, fully expect to see everything they claim as they were actually tested not just a design on a computer. Look them up on Facebook

Let me first apologize for the delayed responses that you've been getting. While this is the busiest month of the year for us, you should always get a response and should NEVER be made to feel like you're an inconvenience. We are in business and do well because of our customers, so you should never be made to feel second rate! Please email me directly at [email protected], and I will be glad to help you out. Also, when you email me, please let me know who you have been working with so I can address the issue internally.

We always appreciate feedback from customers. It will either reaffirm that we've done a great job or show us areas in which we need to improve. I appreciate your interest in our company, and I hope that we can earn your business!

      Thanks!

I have sent 2 emails to Texas Speed that have gone unanswered. I would imagine that taking my money is not at the top of their priority list.

Texas has been one of the higher hit areas of COVID, and have been struggling. I'm sure like many businesses, they've been working at a reduced staffing level. Couple that with people using the stay at home for many states as an opportunity to work on projects (in lieu of not being able to do other activities), and they're probably getting overwhelmed with inquires. I would give businesses a little slack during this period, before judging.
