Fun times! Perfect day for racing… the Impala did great, whole different world with the manual steering box. Much preferred over the light and twitchy (not to mention leaking and whining) power box. However the one downside was that both hands were needed on the wheel, so I didn’t have a free hand to hang on if I’m going to Autocross this thing on a regular basis I really need to figure out some harnesses. Maybe just swapping the seat out for a race seat is the easiest… but I was thinking I could sneak a harness bar behind the front seat… either way I need to do something… I was sliding all over the place.

Besides myself and my friend’s 68 GMC there was one other vintage Muscle car, a 2nd Gen camaro that was well built.

One feature that Speedsf added this go around was timing. They had a led board up at the end that would read your lap time as you exited. That was fun to see… my best was a 56.8… for reference the really fast Porsches and M cars were clicking off 49’s…

      Here are some pics.

      FFDawson's 1962 Impala Build

      Very cool

As for a harness bar and harness’s here is what I have. Way back in the day in one of my GMC Syclones I had a horizontal bar directly behind the seats that attached the 4 point restraints.

However the belts were only a 2” harness similar to what is in my 2nd Gen. I like the 2” belts much better for the street.

Little update. Chasing down what I believe to be a fuel delivery issue… car run strong up to about 3500 rpm then bogs down and sputters… I had a walbro fuel pump die on me a few months back so I replaced it with the same. It ran fine post replacement but last few drives started acting up. Not sure if it’s fuel delivery or tube related but it sucks!
