Be interesting to experiment with for that price. On my 66 Nova I went with a setup from Delta lights that is not DOT approved but I like them. I have never been pulled over by a cop and they look similar to original lights.

I'm pretty sure that is a Chinese knock-off version of the JW Speaker 8700 EVO headlight. Harley sells the JW version as The Daymaker. As expected, the China part has very poor quality compared to the real ones from JW Speaker. The Chinese versions have only 78 lux rating @25 feet, compared to over 500 lux on the JW Speaker version. You can read up on these and many others on youtube here. This is the review of the real Daymaker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQQoptdOlNw
JW Speaker now has the 8700 EVO 2 which replaces the original 8700. The 8700 EVO 2 is the newest version and received excellent reviews on the Headlight Revolution site. These are not cheap. They retail around $325.00 each, but they are very high performing lights and are DOT certified. I have been doing a lot of research on headlights recently for my project. Hope this helps you.

I also went with an LED headlight from Delta for my 66 Nova and I love em. worth every penny imo.

The Evo 2 appears to be a good quality reliable LED headlight. If you are buying these because (1) you like the way the look, or (2) you like the low current draw, then this is probably your best bet. I would not mess with any of the knock-off junk, I get enough of the local rice crowd and their crap lights shining in my eyes when they approach.

If you want MORE effective and lower cost, I have the "Cibie H4 headlamps" which I purchased from Daniel Stern lighting. Housings are $79 each and the bulbs I bought were about $25 each. The "downside" is very few people will notice they are not OEM lamps, they are glass housings and look similar to stock sealed beams. So if you are all about looks, then they are not for you. If you are about lighting a path 1/2 mile down the road on high beam then they are. They put more light down the road than any HID I have seen. I use the OSRAM 85/80 bulbs. You absolutely MUST run relays with these lights to get the most out of them and not fry your switch or harness. Link: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/p.../products.html

I've had the H4 Hella glass and the JW Speaker units in the Camaro. It's no comparison, the JW''s are better in every regard.

The lower bulb life of the high-power H4 is a drawback as well plus the power requirement is a small fraction for the JW. No relays needed.

I had TruckLite LEDs in my Wrangler and they were a drop-and-go change. I sold them after I sold the Jeep, I have no plans on putting them in a 70's muscle car. I stuck one in my 'Cuda and it looked terrible..

I bought the Jw evo 2s for my 69. Looking for good info from people that got them to fit right in the housing and resizing the trim ring. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Amazing light output!

I'd be curious what people want in custom lighting for their rides. Are the Trucklites good as is for everyone? Or are more features wanted? Like accent lighting, or turn signals, or improved beam pattern?

Reason I ask... I'm not a Program Manager for Rigid Industries, our parent company is Trucklite. I'll be following lighting threads here more carefully, as we're investigating other opportunities greater than the lightbars that we're famous for. Things like headlights, and LED driving lights are on my radar.

      Josh,

As far as I can tell, nobody is paying attention to the 5 3/4 inch lights. Would be nice to have modern LED options, that are reasonable priced.

That's an excellent point. Most of what I'm working on now has 7" headlights so I haven't thought about it, but I do have a 63 Tbird, 66 GTO, and a couple 58 Edsels that could use the 5-3/4". I'll bring this up at our next development meeting.

Hi josh. I have trucklites in my 56 F100. My suggestions would be if you do look at adding accent lights or anything, try to have an option without. I think the beam pattern could be improved, and lastly, I imagine a lot of people installing these could use with the mating plug and crimp on the new terminals themselves. But I do like them a lot and have had quite a few people ask me about them and where to buy
