Buick Grand National Twin Scroll EFR Turbo build

Hey guys, I haven't posted on here in a very long time but I wanted to share a project I'm just now finishing. I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with the Borg Warner EFR turbos but in my opinion they are simply the best turbochargers available on the market. I'll let you guys look them up but they are the quickest spooling turbos due to several neat features but the main one being the gamma titanium turbine wheel and shaft. After having a timing chain failure in my buick and having to build the motor, I decided that I had to have this turbo along with the advantages of doing a twin scroll setup. Unfortunately, nothing off the shelf was available so I had to build several custom parts to get it to work. The final result is still to be seen as I have not finished tuning the car or broken in the motor but I will say that the spool up is phenomenal and the car feels as fast now at 10 psi than it was before at 20. Any ways Here are the pictures of the build.

Superb fabrication and install! We agree that the EFR's are the best turbos on the market right now. There's a reason all the turbo indy cars and most Le Mans cars use them lately. Is yours a 7670?

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, Indy car has run them for 2 seasons now with 0 failures! Mine is the 8374 that is being run to its max potential. It's incredible how fast it spools on this little v6, it almost acts like a big block motor.

The easiest way would be upload to youtube, then post the URL here.

That is some very nice work there, and it's a whole bunch of turbo! I don't usually care about dyno numbers, but for this, I'm really intrigued. Does this type of turbo stress the engine a bit less at lower RPMs, even with the quicker spool, or does it require a bit more attention to the buildup of the block than a typical single turbo setup that will be a bit laggy, then hit you in the junk?

      Paul,

Any update on this project and how it worked out? I'm currently running a TE44 in my GN and was just researching these BW turbos.

      Looks like a great build!
