      1971 Corvette L-88 replica build

My last project I built was a Corvette Grand Sport and recently sold it .
      http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s173/vstol/
For my current project I purchased a 71 all original small block coupe, 82K original miles from a neighbor which I will modify to look similar to the L-88 cars of the past with many modifications.
      http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s...-88%20Replica/
The car is a rust free, no hit survivor car, heck the original radio and clock still work and headlight buckets that work like they were still brand new. But all of that will go. Jeff Leech from Mid America Industries (309) 787-5119 is going to mod the car using flares from molds from one of the Owens Corning Cars and “69” front louvers. We will use his GS tube chassis that I had under my GS and mod it just a little to fit under my car and to position the fuel cell. This will also allow me to lwr the floor pans by 2-3 inches giving me the needed head room for the roll cage and good seats. It will have 95-96 Corvette suspension, Dana 44 rear, current plan is a LS3/515 hp carb motor hooked up to a TKO 600. Team III mini lite look a likes 18 inch wheels with 275 front and 335 rears. As the build progresses I plan on posting the build pics on the photo bucket site above. Currently, the project has the flares on and is ready for primer and for him to take some molds from. I plan on getting it back as a roller the end of Sept easrly October where the drive train, wiring, paint etc will be done.
Thanks and I hope the build does not take too long.

Nice! Love the C2s and the bumper sharks. I really want to build an early C3 one of these days or a C2 if I could afford it.

That shop would be Jeff Leeches shop from Mid America. You can see one of the GS's he is known for in the background. I will bring it home and finish it after the body work is completed

Its been a long while since I had anything to post. Well today I ordered a LS3 418/600hp/FI from Frank at Prodigy customs, to say the least I think its a perfect match for the car!!! Also the body work is done and in gel coat ready for Jeff to take the molds. I hope to pick the car up in April then get my rear in gear to finish the car. More to follow when I have something

      Looking awesome!

Are you going to keep the fiber optic system functional?

Which part of the car has the fiber optics, I had a 69 many years back and its not ringing a bell. Everything will be pulled out and be rewired; the dash, instruments, interior out and being replaced, new custom frame, suspension etc. Basically the body will be all that is 1971 Corvette when I am done. Once I get it home I will sell all of the parts.

Getting closer but painful waiting. I ordered a LS3/418 form Frank Prodigy Customs weeks back and should have it in about 2 weeks. All the body work for the flares has been completed and Jeff from Mid America Industries has pulled the molds of the rear clip and almost done with the front. Then the body comes off and on to a custom frame. Good news is the engine and trans are sold and hope to have the complete frame and suspension, rotors and brakes sold shortly as well. If interested give me a shout, for $3500 take all its like stealing. As I have said in the past this 4 month project at Jeffs is going into 17 months but he is doing the hard part. Thanks

I have ended the wait with Frank at Prodigy Customs for my 418 and will be looking elsewhere for a motor. I am leaning towards SDP or Blue Print LS3 427's or Texas Speed 418. Still in the air and unfortunately I have had time since I do not have my project here yet. However I am suppose to pick it up in two weeks we will see.
