Shaved Door Kit installed (solenoid) 70 Chevelle ideas

I just wanted to post my attempt at installing the solenoids for the Door on a 1970 Chevelle.
The issue I had was where to put the solenoid, you must have a straight pull so with the window and hardware in the door its very difficult.

Here is the kit I used.

I had to cut the Mounting bracket to fit the spot I chose.

I installed the bracket on top of the door support beam tilted down towards the door lock, for an easier pull.
Notice the holes in the beam, I chose this location so that I could stick my finger in the hole to install the bolts.
(the metal to the right is the Door Glass guide.)
it does not touch it, the popper sets behind the guide.
You will notice that I had to bend the latch 90 degrees so that the pull would clear the window.

after several attempts to get the cable the right tension, I aborted using the wire cable and used chain with Two key rings to attach them to the latch and switch.

One other tip I picked up was to remove the Latch spring on the latch for the outside door handle, this reduces the tension required for the solenoid to pull making it easier for the latch to work.

installed a switch on the dash for a cool exit push button door opens..
I also installed a switch under the hood for a lost key fob.

and yes that's a 55 Chevy Truck dash in that Chevelle.

Hope this helps someone to make the job a little easier!

I have been using this setup for about a year no with no issues, The chain and key ring setup allow you to fine tune the pull very easy.
and it appears to be holding strong ( no stretching of the ring or chain.)

Thanks for sharing! I'm sure this shined a light on the install for quite a few people.
