      T56 Magnum & LSX Block

ran into a problem when i went to install my tranny....after several attempts we discovered that he input shaft where it starts to taper out into the splines bottoms out on the pilot bearing... the pilot bearing was mounted flush with the crank but does have room to seat further back. it measures about .200" interference, simple fix is to just push the bearing back but its not what we did with the old school chevy stuff so i'm now guessing, anyone have this experience? Or do i need to start researching if I got the wrong input shaft or bell housing?

In case you missed it, this is the "Automatic Transmissions" section.

But to answer your question, there are 2 different pilot bearings. 1 mounts flush to the trans the other is deeper. You need the deeper one. I ran into the same issue.

Yeah I wanted the flush bearing it's bigger.
And I wanted to run the LS9 clutch. And a Tilton TOB. I lacked .500 for the fit and another .125 for the air gap on the Tilton.
So I machined a .625 steel spacer between the trans and bell housing. Quick time
It fits nice. It's. On my build thread if you need a look see
