Maybe I'm just being OCD... but wouldn't the radio look better if it were centered under the AC vent?

It doesn't appear that you have room to move the vent to the right so the radio would need to move left an inch or so...

LOVE this build! Keep doing what you're doing! One of my favorites in awhile!

Oh yeah, I thought about that a lot before cutting anything. My OCD goes in overtime too. The thing is though the A/C vent in slightly off centre. It was just the way it needed to work. The stereo is centre. As will the switches and other things going under it.

Amazing job fabricating and shrinking the size of the dash cluster! You are inspiring me to do something different in our 49F1.

      Much appreciated, Widetrax!

This has taken quite a bit of time tinkering with. It's not finished, this is the mocked up and running state with just a power source attached. They will in the end just be plug and play with the Audi wiring harness and standard Audi controls. Now that I know it works, I can pull it apart and finish the welds and dress all the parts.

I'm pretty sure I posted some time back how I modified the Audi wiper motor assembly and made it fit in place. This now has linkage set that I made to the calculations required for the correct angle and sweep. And by using the little tie rod ends, I can fine tune the resting position of each wiper arms individually.

Changing the repro wiper arms from left hand drive to right hand drive was a pain. But they are done now. I think I'll paint them black though.

This has taken me quite a few hours, to turn this, which is all of the body wiring from the donor S5.

just to get this. It is the wiring and components to operate the electric park brake calipers.

And while I was at it, I continued and turned the rest, many hours later

into this. Lots of spare OEM colour specific spares for when I start modifying the RS6 harness to suit the F1 cab.

Not wrong, that was pretty involved in getting all of that removed from the S5. It took me probably a day just in doing that whilst not trying to break anything as well as to label each plug. I've been at it here and there for a couple of weeks. But the end result should be well worth the effort when I need it all later.

      Thanks, Bob!

I am making the most of this quarantine period. In between working at home, home-schooling the kids and house jobs, there's been plenty of truck time. It's all slow going but progress is progress.

After attending to some rust repairs, I made some floor panels

and a centre piece and that section is now done.

      I love this rivnut tool.

The auto is temporary. So I have made the space around the shifter suitable to adapt the manual shifter later. I need to leave the auto in for now as I know the car was running before so will get to that point first, where the truck drives as an auto, and then work backwards.

It's good, you say? I just checked, and it turns out it's not that expensive. I may have to pick on up, as I had one that I really wasn't very happy with.

I can't complain about it at all. I've used it multiple times now and it works a treat. This is the set that I bought.

I love mine as well, we use a lot of riv-nuts at my work, and have found through painfull experience that if you put a dab of lock tight on the knurled bit before you install them they hold even better and we never have them spin free now (used to be a issue...) we also use mini 12v impacts to install the bolt though.

Got the floor done along with the removable section for the shifter. Steering column is in with a centre support bearing. Peddle box is sorted and back to working on the seat so that I can then start working out the seat belts.
