Another option is to find a junk yard 2008 Ford Fusion. You can actually buy a Fusion fan AND controller, with harness for less than $200. The fans are big and would work great on old muscle car radiators. Then use the Spal Yazaki connector kit listed above for the mating side.

If this was available when I was building the Cougar, this is what I would choose.

What sort of input signals does that fan controller need? A pwm signal or just a temp sender?

      Thanks,

They are a pwm controller, designed for EFI applications where the ECU controls the fan speed.

Otherwise just use a temp switch to power a relay when the fans are needed (IE no speed control, just on or off).

Thanks but what I am asking is if the PWM controller is stand alone with only needing a temp sender or does it need a PWM signal?

As was said above. It's literally the same controller at the C6 Corvette controller. So it needs a pwm- signal.

You ever have one of those, "crap, I didn't even think about that!" moments?

What's the difference between - and + pwm signals? Asking for a friend with a Spal fan and a Holley Dominator.

pwm- pulses to ground. PWM+ pulses to positive.

Thought it was more complicated than that.......

What happens if you send it - and it wants +? System in question is functioning, can't remember what I set it to, do not have laptop to look.

      The magic pixies get out....;-)

It's hard to set the wrong config because on the pin map you can't configure the same pin as pwm- or PMW+. That's a hardware limitation.
