      Project Anti-Grabber, 1973 Maverick Grabber

I bought this car a few years back, it was sitting in a barn, as a roller. It is a factory V8 car, with A/C from Arkansas. From what I can tell it was brought to Canada in 2003, I don't know if it was running or not, taken apart and had changed hands a few times. Amazingly it was still originally original paint (minus the hood), but someone had painted over the with stripes with some sorta nasty Black paint. I built another car a few years back, that went way too far, and became too pretty..so I wanted something that I could enjoy, and maybe beat on a bit. Anti-Grabber comes form me removing everything that would make this car look like the Grabber that it is, and building an all weather car to drive...This is truly a budget build, I'm doing as much as I can in my garage at home, and scrounging for the parts that I need, I will buy certain things when needed, but I'm trying to do this on the cheap.

I should have known better, being that the car was in a barn for awhile, it was full of mouse piss, I tore it down and pressure washed every square inch..finding out that the cowl was rotten..I didn't really look, when I went to see the car..stupid mistake.

After a few hundred spot welds, the cover was off.

Since I am a Maverick hoarder, I just happened to have a cowl, I cut off a car a few years earlier.

Here is the cowl repaired using pieces from the other cowl, thinking back, I should have fully removed the existing cowl from the car, and just welded the other on, would have been less work. Any ways, since the car was a A/C car it didn't have a fresh air vent on the driver side, the cowl I used had the vent and who doesn't like fresh air. I coated the entire inside of the cowl with POR15.

I don't know anything about Mavericks but I do know they look awesome when PT'd. Will this one have a pre-5 mph bumper?

Nope, small bumpers, similar to Mustangs. It is a 73, so they came with a medium sized front, and small rear.
This is my other 73, you can see the front being thicker.

Ok Dave, this has been sitting for sometime. What are you going to do different from the other one? I'd like to come help you but you're still about a jillion miles from me.

I've been working on it, but slowly..
Plans are coil over conversion front suspension, 5 speed conversion, uni-steer rack & pinion, mini tub the rear. There isn't a huge aftermarket for Mavericks, but Mustangs used the same front suspension, so I've got the figured out, I'd really like a four link for the rear, but there isn't one..AJE has been working on one, but they are about it. Hot Rod Black paint job, and a few body mods.

I should close this down, I ended up selling this car last October to someone that wanted it more than me. But I'll just move along to another one I have.

I was too, would have loved to see you finish it but I can appreciate selling when someone wants it bad enough!
