      8L90 Fit a LSA engine

Will a 8L90E trans bolt up to an LSA engine?

Is that the trans that is in the 2016 CTSV? As I recall the bellhousing of the Gen V engines and the Gen IV are the same.

The question is, how are you going to control it?

Rev matched downshifts even with the 6L90 bolted to an LSA are epic!

I hope he does. I would love to have one matched to the L92 in my 1965 Skylark. I currently have a 6L80 but the 8L90 is supposed to be a much better transmission. I will be keeping a sharp eye out.

I might be wrong, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the top bell housing bolt had to be moved on the Gen V engines to accommodate the Direct Injection. In theory, the 8L90 would mate up if you disregard the top bolt. Someone correct me if I am wrong here. I cant wait for someone to make the 8L90 swap work!

You're correct. On the Gen V engines the top bolt is moved about 1.5" to the right to make clearance for the high pressure injection pump. The other bolts are in the same locations.

You could possibly run the 8L90 without the top bolt, but it might not be the safest. Best option would be if a company would make a bell housing to make the top bolt line up.
