      Trunk pop

Anybody got any pics or ideas how to do a mechanical trunk pop on a 69 Camaro or similar model ? I plan on putting the battery in the trunk so I'm not sure if I want to do a electrical trunk pop yet in case the battery ever dies I also removed the trunk key so that's why I'm nervous about putting some type of electric remote trunk pop on it.

Any my tips would be great ,
      thanks John

Modo Innovations makes a nice kit that's easy to install. I left my key lock in place, but I suspect it would work without (as long as battery was charged).

Even with battery in the trunk, you still have to run a hot line to the engine compartment to power headlights, horns, fans etc. You can connect a battery charger/separate battery to the connection under the hood to give you power with the trunk release. I have a Porsche Boxster with the same issue. Porsche suggests connecting the fuse box temporarily to a separate 12v battery to open the trunk/hood. That said, I'd like a mechanical release too.

I could do something like that I guess but I still would like a mechanical release also just incase the electrical side of it ever failed. I will have to figure something out !

Nice thanks for the pic. Do you have that as a backup to some kind of electric trunk latch ?

      Trunk pop

I have a 69 Camaro and I did buy the Modo innovations kit-it's perfect and I put an L shaped metal rod where the key rod used to go hooked up to a cable lanyard going through a small hole with a grommet in the trunk floor directly below the latch so if I have no power I reach underneath to pull the lanyard and it opens the trunk

Yes I shaved the trunk key hole so I can pop the trunk if the battery goes dead by removing the reverse lense and pulling rip cord. I also installed battery jumpers under the tail light.
