Trying not to break either of Susan's rules for the garage. Don't set anything on fire and don't blow anything up.

My question is, did you have to modify the front sub frame for the FEAD (Front Accessory Drive System)? Do you have any pictures up close of the engine setting in the sub frame that you can post?

I’m going to start a Project Update as we get more things done to help other people doing a similar build.

      Thanks

We had to cut the engine mount tubes off the frame and move both of them. We also had to make custom mounting plates to bolt it in. I will take come pictures. Since I'm not certain but they might not be the same for you due to the different trans.

I also had to change the oil pan.

MotiV8r update- Almost done installing the Design Engineering, Inc. Floor and Tunnel Shield II. This should really help keep the catalytic converter heat and exhaust heat out of the cabin. It's adhesive backed and pretty easy to form and install. Since the engine and trans is already in the car I can't utilize the adhesive everywhere so I added some stainless self drilling screws and stainless fender washers. This should hold up well to the autocross cones I will surely cram under the car once in a while.

My dad finished machining the dash to hold the Racepak IQ3 Data logger display, the switch module for the Racepak Smartwire, the Pioneer NAV system and the Vintage Air vents. Now we need to make a couple of brackets for the back and cut the carbon fiber inserts.

And now I cut the dash.

      I hate fiberglass dust!

This worked pretty good. It was surprisingly quiet and the exhaust dumped out at the end of the 2 foot hose and it didn't blow dust everywhere.

This is a bit of a mystery to me. I did not have to modify my AME subframe for my LSA and I used the stock LSA oil pan and the AME engine mount plates. Stock LSA accessory drive fit with a minor alternator trim.

That's a bit of a mystery to me as well.

Are you also running the low mount air conditioning and does anything stick below the bottom of the frame?

I have a low mounted SD508 compressor with a modified VA/Alan Grove bracket. Nothing hangs below the frame except a skooch of the 6L90E pan. I did raise the tunnel for the 6L90e.

I love the floor board/ trans tunnel insulation. How far up the firewall did you go? How much did you need to cover the bottom?

I think I used less than two large sheets.

I went up the firewall only to the top of the angle where your feet rest.

      Larry,

How are you going to make the GM a/c compressor work with the Vintage air unit?
According V.A. the Gm a/c compressor is the wrong type of compressor. I have the same dilemma?
      Thanks,
      Dewboy

I did some research and the compressor that comes from Chevrolet Performance is a fixed displacement unit. It is slightly smaller in displacement than Vintage Air recommends but I will go for it.

Yes there are many GM OEM Fixed Displacement compressors. I once saw a list on LS1 tech. Cannot find it at the moment though.

      Making some progress on MotiV8r.

The dash insert is almost complete. I need to mount the RacePak IQ3s Street dash and make some new light and wiper knobs.
