C&R heat exchanger for LSA motor in a 1969 Camaro

I noticed that C&R has a heat exchanger that is specifically designed for the LSA motor in a 1969 Camaro that has a Vintage Air AC system. Sounds perfect for my setup, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with this heat exchanger. Specifically, I'd like to see the installation instructions so I can plan my purchase (before or after Vintage Air install). Their web site says only one hole needs to be drilled through the radiator support, and since I'm about to mount my power steering reservoir and radiator overflow reservoir, I'd like to avoid a conflict.

Also, which pump and reservoir is recommended (or has been used) by others? I've sent these questions to C&R, but haven't heard back yet.

Theres a thread over on Lat -g that has a few guys who have bought one. I'd recommend contacting one of those guys. There's a few pics in the thread too.

Hope it's ok to link to it

I have one, It mounts right in front of the ac condenser, I will see if I can find the pictures. Two outlets are on the passengers side, I ran my coolant hoses down and under radiator support and they come up right to the pass side of radiator. I ran the ac hose around radiator support, didn't drill any holes. I haven't mounted up a radiator overflow, I have a ps reservoir on the left front fender edge behind headlight. I used a psc setup. I also used a coolant can from a ford mustang and made a mount to put it where the battery originally went. Hope that helped.

Thanks for the info. Please do post some pics. Did you get any instructions from C&R? If so, can you scan and send me a copy?

Did anyone who went to SEMA notice if C&R made upgraded heat exchangers for inside the ZL1 supercharger lid like the ones in the above picture for the LS9 lid? A picture would be great if anybody has one.

Based on your pics and the video Larry posted, it looks like the C&R heat exchanger mounts to the front of the core support, and then the Vintage Air condensor mounts to the front of the heat exchanger. Thanks for the info!

Yes sir, The hood latch is pretty tight when you go to pop the hood,
2 choices, either grind the latch to make extra clearance.
Go with cable operated hood latch, I did and have plenty of room now.

Ordered a C&R heat exchanger and a Vintage Air condenser today. Spoke to Paul at C&R today. Real nice guy. He told me that the stock reservoir for ZL1 bolts on and works well with his heat exchanger. Anybody try this?

I have the radiator and intercooler as well. I ordered the CTS-V reservoir. I haven't installed it yet but it should be easy. I am curious to see what the ZL1 looks like.

The C&R heat exchanger came in and it looks very nice. I'm ready to install, but No installation instructions. Anyone know if there are any on the Internet?

I don't know about instructions on the internet, I can tell you on the top of my head that the spacers go in the bottom of core support to keep from collapsing the support when you tighten the nuts and bolts up.The bolts I installed from the back side and spacers from front then lower heat exchanger brace then flat washers and nuts. You have to have radiator out I do believe to get to the holes in lower support. The L shaped bracket goes to the top between the latch and support. I had to notch out the ac condensor, The strip that has all the holes along the top of condensor. Your hood latch will have to be modified some as well. When you go to open the hood, When you pull the safety latch it wants to force the latch into the condensor. Just watch out for this, The condensor bolts to the heat exchanger. Then It all goes in together. Hope I helped a little.
