I think Moroso makes one that fits the battery tray. I think if you want the ability to ice down at a drag srtip at trunk mounted ice box would be a good solution it also comes with a sump style pump (looks marine derived). Or you can go interchiller (ac driven cooler). The Lingingelter pump is a what i am using its got a soft start and good for some serious flow improvement over stock.

I've been considering one of these tanks

Using an interchiller sounds interesting but doesn't sound many people have gone that route.

That's who built my custom tank for FNQUIK, I used it where the battery used to be up front. He does nice work beautiful welds. I agree about the inter chiller.

thanks again! i do have the inner fenders in mine and it looks like the smallest 12x12x9 isn't going to fit that space.

did you call and have a custom tank made? https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...23#post1173123

I see that specific post for the size/image but don't see it on the page for them. Thanks again for the link!

Yes, I did we worked through e mail. I sent him a drawing of a tank I made a mock up in card board. I forgot a screen to contain the ice so it wouldn’t block the exit. It fit great.

Huge thanks Wayne. Contacted and got mine on order. Changed it up a bit to have an internal pump in lieu of external but looking forward to getting it!

Thanks from me as well Wayne! I ordered one as well. Do you happen to have any pics of how you mounted it? I told Paul to make it just like yours

Finally starting to get my stuff together. Unfortunately the bottom bracket when lined up with the 2 existing holes, positioned the C&R piece too far to the passenger side so none of the top mount holes lined up with the core support. I made some extra slots in the bottom slots to be able to slide it over, but looks like crap. Probably will just get some larger washers to cover those areas.

For the top mounting area, the L bracket goes behind the front ledge of the core support, correct? So "inside" and the hood latch attaches like normal. This leaves needing larger bolts to go through both and use a nut on the backside. Am I understanding this correctly? The existing bolts there were in the car are definitely not long enough to be used

I don't recall needing to relocate the holes on the bottom bracket, I guess I got lucky. The top bracket does go behind the front ledge of the core support. If I remember correctly you only need to move the nut clips that were originally on the core support to the holes on the intercooler and yes longer bolts does make the job a little easier.

      Thanks!

thats my issue, the nut clips were not present on the original so they were bolt/nut hence the need for longer bolts. But i wasn't thinking I could just replace the nut clips! So thanks!

So I’m about to take this dive. Is this heat exchanger really worth $750 instead of getting a factory zl1 for a 3rd of the price?

The C&R piece is bolt in, or close to it. If you don’t mind a little fab the ZL1 should be fine. The hood latch is a bit of an issue with the C&R. I used the Screamin Performance remote hood latch.

So I just installed mine tonight. Word to the wise take the card board out before mounting everything lol. Sucks that I had to take the condenser back off. As far as the hood latch there is no way a 67rs latch will work. Currently looking at options now

For anyone installing one of these I found some hoses that work perfect. Gates 28481 are 3/4” x 60” with a 90 degree bend. I just ran the 90 off of the heat exchanger, drilled two holes in the core support, and used vintage air heater hose grommets 33137-VUI to protect the hose. You will need 3 of these grommets bc where you still the hole for the lower hose you will need to put one on each side. Just waiting for my varimax pump to figure out where I need to drill another hole in the core support. Plan is to have it laying above the core support bolt.

Fellas, feel completely useless, don’t post on here much(at all), I’m at the end of a long night working on my VA install, total pain in the ass when you don’t take the fender off haha..

Anyway, the bottom bracket is stumping me on this C&R exchanger.. I’ve searched for an explanation on the internet to no avail. How does it attach to the rad support? Only one of three holes goes through, the other two only have the hole on the front? Am I supposed to drill the other two out for access to the back? What’s the spacer for? These washers don’t even seem big enough to catch the support haha..

Any insight on this is appreciated, kinda stumped. Didn’t want to start a new thread so bumped this one.
