I think '67-'68 Camaros look great with no front bumper, even better if some detail work is done to make it look like it never had a bumper. The '69's... I'd like to put a painted bumper on mine, especially when I install/finish the RS grill. You can paint the chrome bumper if you rough it up a little, or buy an endura one. Are there fiberglass repros out there?

I have a steel bumper on my 69 but it has been narrowed with modified ends to fit tighter against the body. It is painted the body color.

I'll have to find some time at home to load my build pics to Flickr so I can post here, but I ended up narrowing the front bumper width-wise 1", and shortened the ends 1.5" on the 68 Camaro I'm building now. Looks pretty slick... cleans the look up a lot, but it's subtle enough to where not everyone will notice it. Shaved the bolts as well. At the chrome shop now... gonna take a little more work to make sure it's 100%, so it's a $690 plate job instead of under $300... ouch!

It's definitely different for us '69 owners. Without a front bumper the car looks unfinished because you can see the lower mounting points for the grill. If I had a '67 or '68 I'd be torn because I like the look either way.

I have GM NOS front and rear chrome bumpers and a GM Endura bumper but not sure which I'm going with yet.

Just admiring you're bumper... did you weld up the holes with studs or weld them up and then put weld-in nuts on the back? Did you bother with the outer brackets?

I will be narrowing and painting the front bumper on my 67 to match the exterior paint color. Also, need to cut it to fully see the entire driving lights fit in the valence.

I personally like the front bumper installed. I'm currently waiting on the lower valence from Anvil and know it doesn't have the openings for the front bumper support brackets. I'm going to try and just mount the bumper using the outer brackets that are sandwiched between the fender and that small lower piece. I hope it will be strong enough and the bumper won't sag in the center.
If anyone's done this, let me know!
