I think the Buick needs to just go without a good and have a Hi-Ram sticking up.

I like where your head is at!

That 73 hood is HEAVY! I was thinking building a fiberglass or maybe carbon fiber replacement. But no hood at all would be even lighter!

No hood is cool and from watching Road Kill we know that not having a hood pretty much guarantees that the engine won't overheat!

Yeah - don't screw up your LS cam gears.

I installed a 2006+ LS2 cam gear in my 2005 and the car wouldn't run.

Not that I was expecting the stock tune - but it ran really crappy, then wouldn't fire off at all.

Found out about the cam signal pattern difference the hard way!

Got some bling bling in the big brown truck today...

I need to get those little sleeves around the coils sand blasted and powder coated. I think some stainless ARP hardware holding down the coils would be nice too.

What do you have planned for the top of the intake? Any Idea how much power you will be making?

      Ken,

Ultimately the top will use twin 87mm DBW throttle bodies. One of them came with the engine and I just ordered another AC Delco replacement. I am just debating whether to get the blank top that Holley sells for the Hi-Ram or get the dual quad top. If I get the blank top, I will have to get it machined to accept the twin throttle bodies. If I get the dual quad top, all I have to do is make some adapters to install the throttle bodies.

Mast Motorsports makes a kit that would make it super simple:

However, they want $299 for that kit and I would need 2 of them. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $600 on that. I did call Mast and they sold me 2 of the billet rings that go on the throttle body, which was nice of them. Those weren't nearly as expensive as the whole kit.

I also bought a 90mm throttle body flange that Holley sells and I have some old carb spacers sitting around. So what I plan to do is see if I can mate the throttle body flanges with the carb spacer and make myself a much less expensive adapter. That's the plan for now.

That's the plan. At first glance I want people to think that it has dual quads on it, but if people look carefully, they will be like "WTF?"

Finally got the rest of the parts to make the intake work. Got a new AC Delco throttle body, blank top for the Holley Hi-Ram, a couples of spacers to raise the throttle bodies just a hair, and a couple of adapters from Mast Motorsports that will allow me to use carburetor style air cleaners. I think I will do a bug catcher on top...

Also got a few goodies from Lingefelter: beehive springs, spring removal tool, and a 4x 3 bolt cam gear. Also have a used ASA cam coming by the end of the week.

Despite being very cold today, I managed to put in a few hours in the garage. I got a little air compressor so that I can change out the valve springs. A while back I ordered some parts from Lingenfelter. I wanted to run the LS9 "blue" springs and Lingenfelter offered them in a matched set for a very reasonable price. I placed my order but it turns out they are all out of the matched set, so they gave me a deal on these instead:

      http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...9#.VGgUGl6QX8E

I also ordered one of their nifty spring compressor tools:

      http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...E#.VGgUzV6QX8E

So I hooked up the air line to each cylinder and and replaced each valve spring one at a time.

The tool makes it really easy to take the valve spring off. Just push down with the ratchet and grab the keeper with a small magnet:

Here is the stock spring on the right and the Lingenfelter spring on the left:

Now if that cam would just get here...LOL

I like the dual 87mm TB setup. What's involved in running 2. Do you just Y the harness? Are you running a stock style ECM or aftermarket?

I plan on using the Holley Dominator ECU which has the ability to drive dual DBW TBs. I am unsure of how to do this with an OEM ECU or if it is even possible.

Holley make a dual TB wiring harness for the Dominator ECU.

I like the build Andrew. I'm working on a '65 Mustang now (sold the RX7) and keep bouncing between LS and Coyote (mostly because I like the idea of playing with the Coyote). Hard to argue with LS performance vs. size/weight/cost though.
