1967 Firebird mini tub gas tank

Has anyone modded an oem fuel tank for a 1967 Firebird to fit in between the leafs in a mini tub application?

My car came with one done. Basically you take it to get steam cleaned, cut the ends down and weld them back together. I would use heavier gauge plate so you have more materiel to weld to. I believe who ever did mine used JB weld or something else to seal the welds because I'm guessing a few leaked.
