The floor pads are cut from a 6" boat mattress and they are AWESOME!! From the headliner to the Dash and next the back side roll up windows!
      Thanks

Finished up the tail light wiring, subwoofer & speakers, and started on the power window wiring.
Found a nice set of JL 5 x 7 speakers. They fit the factory speaker holes in the package tray without cutting.
With all four windows using a special switch that utilizes the original crank handle I decided to put the separate 4 window controller switch assembly under the dash so the car will look as though it has manual windows (like the movie car;-)

Pat - Amazing work as usual!

Not nitpicking here by any stretch, just not sure if you thought of / declined - But with everything you're doing with subtle changes and modernizing - Have you thought about going with an electric trunk release?

Also - my 68 Charger tail lights do not have a provision for a ground - the socket simply grounds thought the housing - you appear to have run a dedicated ground wire to each socket --- Did you run a different socket or just solder / rivet / weld a tab on the socket itself?
I am going through the wiring on my 68 and looking for things to upgrade and thought it is a great idea

      Car is looking amazing!

I’ve had a few people mentioned other modern upgrades, but I like the fact that I’m reusing most of the original hardware. Apparently some mid 70 Chrysler used an electric trunk latch that has the same footprint??

The ground wire is not necessary with the metal tail light housing but the manufacture of the wiring harness doesn’t know what kind of housing it’s going in so it’s supplied with ground wires and I decided to use them.

      Thank You!

gotcha! Good to know about the wiring - sounds like a very decent upgrade as my sockets don't always ground very well and sometimes require some bending, adjusting, etc.

Yes - the trunk latch from a late 70s / 80s Dodge / Plymouth has the same bolt pattern - There are some that use a linkage rod and arm (which you dont want) and one style that uses a rod that goes through the mechanism - just like your existing factory one.

Linked pic below gives you an idea - it is basically the same mechanism as your 68 latch but with a black plastic cover that protects the added electric mechanism -- just food for thought if you decided to add it later

Started installing rear wheel well trim rings, And mounted one rear wheel as it’s been a few years since I’ve seen it on the car.
      Thanks

Those are going to work out just like you thought, just like the hub caps until someone gets close. I like the way that looks. When I saw the picture with the wheel well molding I didn’t notice it was on the car the reflection looked so deep.

I hung the right side door over the weekend. Drilling all the hinges both in the door and on the car with an 1/8” drill bit, (when the car was in primer before disassembling) then used them as an alignment tool made the installation very easy. I also used an 8 pound weight wrapped in a towel inside the door to simulate the weight of the glass and vent.
      Thanks

Installing some of the door hardware is a tedious process with new paint, but so far is going well! The new power window regulators are nice but I spend a lot of time laying out the electric crank switches. The power crank switches do not come with a Mopar adapter so I needed to cannibalize a crank handle shaft from an old rusted regulator and welded it to part of the new crank shaft. The crank switches work the power windows by moving the handle up or down about 15° to contact microswitches. A cool set up if you want power windows but the look of manual window cranks. All of my original window regulators are in excellent condition so I’ll need to find some rusted regulators to salvage the small crankshaft for the other three windows. PM me if you have some broken, rusted or bad window regulator’s
      Thanks
      Pat

Congrats on getting the windows in process. I know that was a huge pain in my project (getting movement of the mechanism "just so" was tedious). Project is looking fantastic!
