Modern Bullitt Charger build

Big thanks to a member on another forum As I used his suggestion for painting my dash frame with Rust-Oleum fine textured black paint #7220. Worked great and looks as close to original as I can find. Inside of the frame was painted with Eastwoods detail gray to replicate the bare steel look, but without the factory overspray to keep it light under the dash.

Texture looks killer. How well did it lay down out of the can. Any difficulties? Sometimes the nozzle on the cans can be less than ideal.

Extremely well, no blockages must be some sort of chemical reaction creates the wrinkle finish??

To help soften the texture of the rust oleum paint I lightly sanded the dash with 800 grit paper and applied a coat of Krylon semi-flat paint to help smooth out some of the texture. This work great along with the plastic dip that I re-coated all the wire harness clips with.

Recorded it earlier this year & rewatched the good part numerous times. Also funny how many times hub caps popped off AND back on. Hmmm. Must of been an option that came with the 10 speed movie transmissions.

After spending about 10 days wiping down the spray booth I now have the car body in there and getting ready for paint ;-)

After you start painting and overspray falls on the plastic, does it get sticky enough that you have to be concerned that you will tear it as you move around the car?

After you start painting and overspray falls on the plastic, does it get sticky enough that you have to be concerned that you will tear it as you move around the car?

What actually happens when you start spraying the sealer it actually has almost a dusting overspray, as well as the basecoat. It isn’t until you start spraying the clear that is sticky, but because there’s more of a dust over the plastic it does not lift the plastic when you walk on it.
