      It's from a 88 Chevy Truck if I remember right

      Those are some pretty wide boards for the bed. Are you going to leave a gap between them? They look like they fit tight.

      My guess is that the carpenter didn't leave a gap between them. But since the boards aren't finished there's time to trim them a little.

      What kind of wood is it? I would leave a minimum 1/8" gap between. I would also finish all 4 sides of the wood to keep the moisture levels balanced.

      Don't know the name of the wood (I will ask). I did some research and there's a gap between each board (picture) , I will follow your advice and tell the carpenter to do it right. Take into consideration that he works on furniture and doors..
      As of now I have bigger problems: I bought the front wheels too wide
