      My hidaway

Just a few pix of what my family calls Dad's Hidaway. It is a 40x60 footprint divided halfway with multiple work and storage areas. Upstairs is storage/apartment. I have internet and tunes along with a decent tv to watch movies. We occaisionally have a movie night with family and friends. Just move a car out and bring in chairs and popcorn. If anyone has questions I will be happy to answer. And yes the center section is raised to allow the future placement of a lift when I can afford it. Enjoy

No pissing match here, just a 42" for now. Would like to go to 60 or 70" in the future, maybe even projector. The best part is the Klipsh Lascalas that play the sound. They really annoy the neighbors. But are great when having a pool party. Just turn them up .....

Very nice! Looks like it's really finished up nicely with the trim and paint.

      We need more pictures...

Ryan , no need to run away. 32" is better than no tv. And all my previous years my shop radio was some kinda cheap radio that could not hold the station. I will get some new pix up in a few days. I told my wife after we finished it that when she decided to kill me off or divorce me she had a built in man magnet with this shop. My son (13) said "nuh uh, everything in that shop is mine when you are gone. So get to building" Yep you have to love kids honesty sometime.

BTW, anybody know anyone interested in 57 tbird or parts for sale. If I don't part it out or sale it whole I am thinking about rat rodding the carcass for fun. So if anyone has any interest lmk.

Some uncensored (not cleaned or staged) pix of the state of my shop. I have on more room for outside pool and lawn storage but did not take pix of it.

I have the parts and pieced of a 67 elky, 57 tbird, and a 51 chevy truck all over the place hence the debris field.

      Enjoy Chris.

      That garage is incredible.

I keep telling my wife that now that the kids are grown and gone we need to downsize the house and up size my shop. I am going to show her this tonight and start working on what we need. Yes, need not want

Todd, good luck. My wife tends to get what she wants. But , this time she took a back seat and let me shoot for the moon as to design. Also had a great builder who worked with me and understood what I wanted. I drew it up from over 20 years of desire and experience in sheds and single car garages. Now if I could only get her to understand the need for a lift. My old back and all. LOL.

The great part was that earlier this year when my hours at work got cut to nothing(thanks Obamacare) I was able to do a few things out of the shop to help make money. So use that angle if it helps.

Thanks for posting the extra pics...great looking shop. Do you plan on doing fab\dirty work in the room with the stairs leading up to the apartment? I see the blast cabinet in there... Also curious if there are any fume problems up in the apartment from activities in the shop below?

I have to be careful at times because my shop shares air with the apartment my Dad lives in. It doesn't take long to air it out if the wind is blowing the right direction but like yesterday...it was too damn cold outside to be airing it out and he probably got tired of breathing welding fumes pretty quickly.

I was just returning the favor though for him making my car reek of cigarette smoke.

Nice shop! One piece of advice, put that lift in! I just added one a year ago, best thing ever! Take care. My shop project. Not as far along as yours, need to finish out the inside.

Parts guy thanks. When I can afford a lift I will try to get one. I am still trying to get parts for my son's 51 Chevy truck together but so many things are coming first. Such is life. I will never call my shop done though, That would be like calling a project car done. Lol
