      Dante's Chevelle

Dante dropped off his Chevelle today for us to freshen it up!
Going to start with stripping it to bare and see how she looks under the paint..

Overall this car looks to be in pretty good shape. He plans to keep the same color scheme, he's undecided on motor but sounded like he is leaning towards a LS motor.

Here's a few pics of how it is sitting now, should have some more pics up within the next few weeks!

He's debating a big block as well, but I'm kind of hoping he goes LS for what he is doing with the car.. I can really see this car being done really clean with handling and performance in mind! Either way I like where he is going with it. I think a stockish appearance with some handling and drive train upgrades will go good with this car.

Thanks SSlance.. and that stand has been awesome.. The mounts un bolt so I can take it all apart and it's pretty thin and easy to store.. Also makes it easier to mount other things or different bodies.. I want to build another one like it but a little bit more sturdy.. This was a freebie from a factory.. not sure what they used it for but it works great for me.

Made a bit more progress today.. Everything is roughly fit but it looks like it all is going to fit really good.
I'm sure the typical edge treatment but over all things fit really nice.

Went to put in the rear package tray and the piece that extends from the package tray to the inner pillar was in pretty rough shape, decided to make a new one.
Got package tray rough fit and everything else sitting back on the shell.
      Waiting for parts now!

It seems like I have done this on most of the restorations I do here, being in the midwest they all need a little work, some worse than others and all rusty in different spots but they usually all need something.. I've seen cars with rough exteriors and solid floors, cars with rusted out floors and fairly solid body panels.. Something I haven't made much sense of.. I'm sure it has something to do with how they were maintained.

Was the floor area of you're car clean???

My floor had a rust spot that had to be patchdd in addition to some holes drilled for seats at some point. When complete, every panel except three were patched or replaced.

Seems to be the going trend once you tear into a car, but it sure makes for a nice solid car when finished and IMO retains re-sale value if restoration is documented properly. Anything I do I try to take plenty of pictures for record of restoration.

Made some good progress over the last few days..

A few rust spots to fix but overall the shell is pretty solid.
