Corvette brakes into A-Body??

is there a way to swap the complete brake system from a '84 vete into a '64 A-body (chevelle, cutlass)?

Not without some custom brackets & machining to the stock spindles (unless they are drum spindles).

Some minor machining required for the rear fitment (depends on which kit) as well. I haven't gotten into it yet...

it's the drum spindles that need the upper boss cut down- disc spindles will actually need a 1/4" or so spacer on the upper hole.
the fronts are literally as simple as making a caliper mounting bracket out of 1/4" steel and turning the outside diameter of the drum hub down about 1/8" to fit inside the Vette brake rotor.
the caliper mountng template is available at David Pozzi's page- www.pozziracing.com - but the '64 spindle will probably have smaller mounting holes. so instead of the 1/2" and 5/8" holes on the template, they will be 7/16" on the bottom one and 9/16" on the top one.

regarding to this info , do I have to use the corvette or the A-body wheel bearings when instaled on the cutlass?
also, is there a printout or designto take a look at for the rear swap like the one they show for the front brakes on the www.pozziracing.com page?

here is my budget setup, drum spindles with machined down boss, drum hub,
1/4" flat steel bracket with large metric caliper
rotors are slip on from ('65 to '82 corvette) 11.75"x1.25"
i had to use a 1/2" spacer to get the correct offset to the rotor, i will replace these with wilwood rotors and correct offset hats when i can upgrade my wheels (need the spacer anyway)

Honestly use the C5 stuff, sooo much better and much easier to find heavier parts for. I gave up on C4 stuff!

Or if you're going to use C4 stuff, at least stick with the 1988-1996 stuff, ideally 1996 pressure cast calipers. They still have a place in smaller wheel applications, but they certainly don't compare very well to the more modern stuff.

That depends on the generation of Corvette brakes and the wheels...but in general, C2/C3 brakes require 15" wheels, C4 12" brakes will require at least 16" wheels. Any of the C4 13" brakes or C5(Z06)/C6 base-level kits [12.79"] will require at least 17" wheels. C6 Z51 and C6 Z06 kits will require 18" wheels and the C6 ZR1 carbon/ceramics will require 19" wheels.

It depends upon the wheel. Offset and drop center vary among the various wheels.

Not entirely true, they fit under stock '92 Camaro RS 15" wheels. No spacers or other gimmicks required (grinding, clearing, etc.).

Although they are tight under other 15" wheels.
