"Just For Fun" MY 69 camaro

I re-skinned this 69 camaro 3 years ago that I had pick up from Jeff Tate, but until lately, I had not done much with the car.

Every since we did the paint work on II Much I have been wanting to build my own suspension and build a car that was more of a track car, not a show car.
I will blame JP for that one !LOL!
So now the past couple years Ron's Budget Mustang has gotten me fired-up to really do it! The fact that he calls me to bug me about how much we have done to the car helps my motivation a lot.

      Thank you Ron!

Well we started building the front sub frame from some spare parts that we had accumulated ,C4 corvette front suspension, and C4 Vette offset 18x10s and 18x12s wheels. (I have to give credit to some friends that are helping with the suspension design). My friend Robert(RS Customs) and I designed the sub frame and are building the car together. And John Parsons was kind enough to run and tweak the suspension numbers for us.

We will also be building a 3 link for the rear that JP designed an offered to let me use.
Thank you guys. It means a lot to me!

Now about the car it will be a two seater with Kirkey alum. seats, full roll cage front to rear, custom dash to look like a 69 dash but no pad,

I got a 6.0 LS with L92 cnc ported heads an what some people called a baby cam from comp cams intake @.050 is 224 Exhaust is 230, .610 intake an .605 exhaust LS is 112.0
We also got a T56 Magnum 6 speed trans for it. I was taking notes from riding in Ron's car at RTTH's and decided that I would be putting some sound deadening in this car for sure, my ears are still ringing with the fun we had.LOL!! I will also be putting A/C and Wipers in this car as i want to drive it every where, I don't see carpet in this cars future so we will come up with something to make the floors look right.

I talked to Frank at Prodigy Customs today about the 9" rear end he has on order for us, we should see it beginning of the week. Thanks for your help Frank.

I'm going to ask what may be a stupid question. The shafts you used for the LCA mounts, what are they, are the threaded? I'm gearing up for my chassis build and am running through a few ideas for mounting the LCA's but I'd like to keep it simple but am not sure what guys and companies are using for the shafts. Thanks.

Build looks great so far. I'm looking forward to watching the progress.

Thanks Darrin, Yep you guys are a bad influence, LOL!!
The Colors will be Silver outside an mostly satin silver inside, the seat will just use the kirkey standard black covers for now. There will not be a standard 69 type package tray that area will be open under the rear glass (but sealed off from the trunk)were it an the back seat use to be.

We may upgrade later, just want to get the build done an then improve on it as we beat the shiiiiit out of it.LOL
So far it has been fun car to plan out as we go.
      Thanks for looking.

Here is a couple pictures of how the shafts went together. We decided to go this route to save a little bit of weight over solid round. The top of the sleeves were also tig welded to the tube after that picture and sanded smooth for the next part. We welding the large washer looking part on after so we could pass it through the cross-member.

Thanks Robert. That's a big help. Any chance you have a link to those sleeves? I can't find them anywhere, unless I'm calling them by the wrong name.

Sorry I don't have a link, we ended up making the sleeves. I have seen some on sites before, just can't think of where. We used a smaller piece of DOM that just about gave the correct inner diameter for taping, then drill to correct size and taped.

Here's a little teaser of the wheel barrow from last year that was bought for Alan's car then he changed his mind. LOL!!

I guess you can get an idea of were the motor is going to be at, #7 & 8 cyl. are under the cowl.

Sounds like a great plan David. What ever happened to the orange car?

When are you going to build one of those second gens you have?

I kinda miss not being in the area any more. Now that I'm done with school, I would have loved to hang out and help anyway I could on "local" builds. I guess I'll just have to watch from afar.
