...wow. Looking excellent.
The engine compartment is painted and work has started on the interior. We hope to have it painted tomorrow. The exterior could be painted by the end of next week.
Here is a snapshot of the radiator cover/ air intake with the prancing moose jewelry. The engine bay has a matte finish by the exterior will have full gloss.

That car has no idea how lucky it is to be your project.
The interior is painted and the black accents inside the taillight housing are now black. Wet sanding the body starts tomorrow and it will be painted next week. I can’t wait to see the car painted and assembled. That will be a milestone.

Very good. It's been good to follow on your journey. :) There's one of those that showed up at the Pueblo NSRA event that I believe had a Ford 2.3 4 cyl. installed. It was silver and red in color but not a high zoot build, just a decent driver. Rare car to choose. :)
There were only about 50,000 of these ever made. I have only seen a couple driving around in all of my life. I am really looking forward to this being finished and then parking next to a stock car to see the differences between the cars. I don't think most people will have any idea how much has been changed.
I just noticed that this build thread just passed 200k views. I can't believe so many people have looked at this build. It is kind of humbling. Thanks for all the support everyone!
If you park it next to a stock car you'll have a hell of a time convincing most people they are the same make and model!
Wow, you're getting close!!! If you really put your nose to the grindstone, you'll be driving before autumn. ;)
Fantastic build Darreld! All of your enhancements to both performance and aesthetics have been effective and have improved on the looks of the car. I know all about building and rebuilding in an effort to get the most out of your project. I applaud you for your tenacity and conviction.
I look forward to seeing you and your car performing at future events!
Thanks for the compliment Ray. I look forward to seeing you at events in the future as well. One benefit I had over your project is the engine was on the correct end of the car to start with. Your project is even larger than mine. I have been following along your build for a long time. Looking great!
And then there was paint. 2 more coats of clear to go.

Yes!!!
C'mon Darreld, we need some HD pictures now in the home stretch more than ever!
Your car parked to an original may be inspiration for Volvo to resurrect this model. You never know and your project is better than any factory attempt!
Great color! Getting close!
I watched your video yesterday, car is looking great. About an hour after watching it we went to my mother in laws and drove past a very clean original. Amazing how much you have improved on the original car.
Thanks guys. I will get some more and better pictures once the car is back on its wheels. It really is totally different car than a stock 1800. I bet there are at leat 100 items on the body that have been changed or refined in this process. But in my opinion it is enhanced over the original. There are a lot of highly modified cars that may not look better than the original. I know, my opinion is biased though. LOL!
I know a guy that works in the service department of a Volvo dealer in St. Louis.....
.... Jus' sayin' ;)
You guys are too funny!
Here are a couple pictures from Monday. Look at that thing in the sun! Can’t wait.
