It looks like it may be time for me to break down and get a game console and a steering wheel.

In fall 2011, the final selection round of the 9th Gran Turismo Awards was held in line with the SEMA show, the largest custom car festival in the United States. Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi selected Mary Pozzi’s 1973 Custom Chevrolet Camaro for the 'Best in Show' award, marking the first time that the award has gone to a female owner.
Mary’s Camaro RS is a car she has continued to work on with her husband David since she acquired it in 2002. Though the look of the good old days have been retained in this 2nd generation Camaro, a large number of parts have been discreetly replaced with carbon, including the RS nose, engine hood, inner fender panels, boot, and rear spoiler, reducing the overall weight by roughly 100 kg.
The car is powered by Chevrolet’s LS2, the traditional 6 L small block V8 tuned to produce 611.4 BHP. To receive the increased power, the gearbox has been changed to a 6-speed T56 magnum and the rear axle has been reinforced. Suspension work includes not only coilovers, but modified arms as well, and the car has been given large-diameter, four-wheel disc brakes for stopping power. Of course the interior also sports a roll cage, two bucket seats and a full harness belt.
Mary is a racer who has continued to customize and perfect her car for her racing activities. Since 2005 she has been active in autocross racing in this very car, and the fact that this is an actively competing racing car today was one of the deciding factors in its choice for the award.
