Hello everyone

I hope you can help me with a dent i have on the driver's door.
The dent is on the side trim (which implies hardening) , it was much bigger but i was able to hit it from the inside and the majority of the hit is now out.
any more hits i try has no effect.

I would like to know which method will help here.
I can give up and fill the entire thing with bondo or some filler, but i know that it will be amature of me

Picture will be uploaded within an hour

I appriciate the help.
Avi.

Tightly hold something like a block of wood on the outside to support the surrounding area, then go back to trying to push/tap the dent back out. This will start you in the right direction, but professional dent removal at it's best takes a lot of tools you don't have & is a lengthy subject.I'm sure you can find a bit on the subject from google, a bit has been explained on Trucks on Powerblock tv. One episode explained how a dent creates high spots around the dent, which is a big reason to work the metal besides just the crater you see.

I know, I watched some detailed videos and tutorials explaining the process. I know about the high spots and the use of dolly/hammer.
Thing is, I don't want to buy expensive tools for a one time job, and I do want to do it myself (not the money issue, i'm a DIY in heart and soul ).
I am more focused right now on getting the damn thing out, the high spots that will create (and already have been created) will be flattened later on slowly and gently, I'm not afraid of hard work.

If you can or anyone else could shed some more light on the issue, I would be grateful.

You can improve the head of even a cheap lumber hammer by dressing up the head with a sander & even handsanding. Try like I said & hold or have someone hold a straight block of wood over the outside while you tap down on what is the high spot on the inside. You could also get a really cheap body work hammer & dolly set from auto parts store or harbor freight. they can be useful for other diy projects.. Besides dents are not a one time thing in your lifetime.

You might try going to a body shop and seeing if someone with the correct tools could do it cheap. Some guys even moonlight and could help.

Best solution is a stud gun and slide hammer. If this isn't to happen you can get a cheap slide hammer that uses screws rather then studs at any auto parts store. Be warned the screws do screw into the sheetmetal so holes will be left in your panel afterwards. Not a big deal if you have a welder. Real big deal if you don't. If the latter of the two is the case here, your best bet is to try and hammer pry or push out as much of that dent as possible. Be careful about high spot around the perimeter of the dent. Try to gently hammer these areas towards the center of the dent as you are pushing it out.

H-F has a body kit for $30.
3 hammers and 4 dollies. They worked great. I just did a 69 vert Camaro with this, the only additional hammer I bought that this kit did not have, was a door skin hammer. Bought that at HF also.
