Hello guys,

I'm building a 68 Camaro for track only use (road racing), and I'm looking for options on wheel setup.

With the help of a handy friend I got some fender flares, tried to do something "old school" and went to something in the "aloha bobby & rose" style.

We used the current 17x9, 0 offset wheels I have in my 2nd gen. Camaro and added a 4 inch spacer to make the fenders.

I'm now looking at wheels options on the 17x11 size (ish) the idea is to use Nitto NT01 315/35ZR17 tires for the rear and 17x9 and 275/40ZR17 in front.

I haven't found many 17x11 options, I really like the Billet Specialties Street lite so opinions about them are welcome.

Torq Thrust II's are out of the selection.

This is a "have fun at the track project", Trackdays, and exhibitions, no real competition, so the money IS an issue. I'm not cheap, and I would appreciate a good combination of price/quality.

Some pics of the fender flares

I know the car is in quite bad shape, it used to race "somewhere" maybe 20 years ago, there is a lot of work to be done and remove all the previous bad work done.

Those flares are going to look killer.

Are 18" wheels an option? I think you will have better luck with tire selection. I seriously regret going with 17x11 wheels.

Thanks for your reply, I'm open to suggestions, maybe why you regret going 17x11 would be a good start. I have had 15,16 and 17 inch rims and they have always looked to be the bad choice and that the offer for a different rim size was better.

As I haven't bought anything yet, it would be great to know the benefits of 18 (or any other size) against my idea of using 17s

In a nutshell my main regret is not being able to run the best reasonably priced 200 treadwear street tires in 315/335 sizes that are available for 18" wheels but not 17" wheels. That doesn't sound like an issue for your setup since the NT01 is the competition tire and there are several other options for competition tires. I confused the NT05 (which I run) with the NT01 and the fact that this is a track only car.
