I've tried to find something on here about a DIY roof rail install but I guess I'm not typing in the right word's. Anyone have any tips for finding info on what material people use to make them and way's of attaching them to the roof?

They are made out of .050 aluminum broke with a 1/2" base and are 3/4" tall (per the rules). When I build them I start with a 52" long piece of 1/2"x3/4" and stretch it to the shape of the roof. If you look at the roof of the race car, they are 3 pieces and are separated by 1/2" for the roof templates. The left side is actually 4 pieces because the rear rail is cut and attached to the roof flap. It's easier to build each side as one piece then cut them, instead of trying to build individual pieces per side. Then you can drill your mounting holes, so if you want to separate the rail it will stay straight in line. We attach them with 1/8" rivets and backup washers, or sometimes on super-speedways they are attached with 10-24 button heads.
Hope that helps ya!
