1967 camaro which hydraboost to go with?

Hey fellas im running into issues with my current built and wanna know whats the best route to go with for my brakes.
Im currently swapping a 5.3 super victor 4150 tb and a big can and some nitrous. First the booster gets in the way of the headers and me getting to the spark plugs second the intake has no port for the vacuum line for the booster third I might have a issue with vacuum with the big cam.I just want some help on which route to go with and if hydraboost is the only solution which system to buy?

I'm currently running a hydro-boost from POL (Performance On-Line). I been running it for a couple years, with no complaints. I would suggest checking with whoever you choose to buy from, for specifics on using it with an LS style ps pump. Thanks Mike

Ok what do you recommend.1967 camaro front disc rear drum.01-05 corvette front accessories. Type 2 pump.I don't know what kind of steering box.might be stock ratio.as you can see the clutch master is almost touching the booster.future plans c5 front and ls1 camaro rear

No matter where you end up going with your build, the VERY first thing I suggest you do is to please plug the ports on your steering gear box. If you intend on running that gear box again, do please blow out the ports with compressed air and plan on at least temporarily installing a PS filter. All it takes it one little spec of debris to cause an awful amount of trouble in any type of hydraulic system...

Any hydroboost system can be made to essentially work, though Hydratech has untold amounts of research and development over the many years to make things actually look really damn good while also accomplishing required functions. I'm certainly not asking to start any trouble or for any hassles by any means, though am willing to place our systems up against anything else available out there from a side by side visual comparison for installed overall layout and appearance!

Their system is for street driving. Many members here are using systems from Hydratech or components they supply. Give them a call, they are very helpful and you don't have to post and wait for an answer.

The components we produce are 100% perfect for the intended use and application in all ways, exceeding OEM quality, ready to handle any duty / abuse / or punishment you can throw at them. Time tested, track thrashed, customer base proven since 2000, race use punishment - been there, done that. While these systems do start life as DOT approved Bosch produced current production hydroboost units, we do reconfigure them for alternate use in applications where they where not original equipment. As per the modifications required to retrofit into an alternate application, they ARE altered, and therefore the DOT certification they started production life with is no longer applicable. We have competitors that try to place a demerit against us through our statement found in our installation instructions "These systems are intended for off road use only". Some even claim that their systems are certified for street use, but certified by whom? Them? Of course!.. LOL Note that this is an unqualified statement, as certification for street use must be performed by the DOT, and not a matter of self opinion. The same applies to most all aftermarket / speed parts. Take a look at camshafts, cylinder heads, exhaust headers - you name it. They are produced with excellent quality, meeting or exceeding OEM specs, BUT they are typically NOT EPA or DOT certified, and you will most always find a small statement somewhere in the package received to that extent. Is a (insert your favorite brand) camshaft "legal" for use in your build? Slicks are typically 100% illegal for street use. Do you run slicks on the street? Hmmm... For example: Wilwood has a statement to the effect of "end user / installer must determine if components are correct for user / installers method, and means of application". While that may be a fancier way of putting it that doesn't raise an eyebrow through very carefully structured wording, we put it right out there in a bolder, more real time wording that doesn't dance around the issue:

Q: Why are these kits listed as "for offroad use only"?


A: This statement is essentially what the "entire aftermarket / hotrod industry" bases its products on. We cannot possibly certify each and every one of these kits for "use on a public highway" as this would require extensive, expensive and prolonged testing as administered by the D.O.T. This, combined with the outrageous liabilities of "certification for street use", would more than quadruple the costs of the systems, along with delaying their availability for years, pending D.O.T. certification. We advise that you acknowledge this well known fact and use this product in accordance with these guidelines.

If a sugar coated word set makes you more comfortable, note that we shouldn't be building grossly overpowered vehicles (that do everything so much better and SAFER than when they first rolled off of the DOT approved assembly lines), as Ralph Nader and all of the other nazi's will certainly come after us. :rolleyes:

Summary? These systems have all of the DOT certified safety testing that they started life with as Bosch produced items for use in GM / Ford / and Chrysler heavy duty production line brake unit assemblies. Since they are modified to fit alternate applications in our production, they are no longer considered Bosch produced hydroboost units, and we openly state that the DOT certifications for the item is no longer "technically applicable". If you took an OE hydroboost unit from application "X", and then grafted it into your vehicle where it was not originally equipped as such, it would also no longer be DOT certified (as the application it is now installed into is not what was certified for by the DOT). Any company that wants to claim certification for street use should be prepared to provide application specific documentation by a true governing body of appropriate authority to make such a determination - not by self proclamation...
