I'm looking to switch from Progressive. Looked at a few, GEICO seems to have best rate of the few I looked at. Anyone have any experience with them?

I don't have experience with either one but I highly recommend USAA if you are eligible.

You should get a quote from the hartford insurance (http://www.thehartford.com/auto-insurance/affordable-auto-insurance). Excellent service and very affordable rates. I had 1 claim some 2 years ago and the entire process went off so smoothly. No hassles at all.

I was just involved in a hit and run on the freeway a couple months ago (I got hit, and he ran...) anyways, they totaled out my full size truck. My insurance company handled it so professionally I would be willing to pay a little more for "service" than to save 15% or whatever.
My insurance company had a check in my hand within a week, no increase in my premium. About a month ago that guys insurance called to get a claim started on his insurance. I thought it was comical because mine had already replaced my vehicle and they were just getting to his issue.

Love my Geico, so far very good insurance. Had small wreck last spring, and only raised few dollars, as expected, should go back down next 6mo cycle. and my bike ins. is pretty cheap.

Aren't Progressive and Geico the most expensive insurance providers on the planet (note their constant, pervasive advertising saying how "affordable" they are)? More research is necessary... From experience, any time I've called these people for quotes, they've always doubled or tripled what I was paying through either Allstate or Mercury, for cars, motorcycles, or 4x4s. Maybe it's just me...

Stay away from the ones that advertise tailored to you crap they cut so much coverage out that you don't save any money (ie the very small print) and end up paying out of your pocket to fix some things that would normally be covered

I've actually had Progressive for years. I call a bunch of companies once a year or so for quotes and haven't found cheaper. had one small claim a few years back and they handled it great. I also have roadside assistance for $16 a year and have had my truck towed at least three times so that $16 is money in the bank.
