So, my wife's Escalade has a slow leak around the rim. Like every few days I have to add air. It has chrome plated aluminum wheels and the chrome is pretty crappy (on it when I bought it) and it is flaking off randomly and I believe that the bead won't fully seal because of it.
Will either fixAflat or slime work for something like this or will it eat the wheel?
Thanks

I wldnt use that crap in any tires!!! Eats the inside of the tire up! Best bet wld b to take it to a shop that fixes tires the right way( alot ofem dont!!!!) they should b able to clean the flaking chrome off w a wire wheel, use bead sealer and get it ta seal. Gd luck to ya

You nailed it never use fix a flat or slime take it to a tire shop the chrome plated wheel will always have problems I manage a Les Schwab Tire Center in my past 13 years I have never fixed chrome peal 100% without sending the wheels to be rechromed

I use a mixture of slime, mold builder and antifreeze in my tubless tires on my mountain bike and it doesn't eat the tires. I have also used them in a pinch and I've never seen fix a flat or slime eat a tire. I'm not saying to use it for the op's situation, just saying it doesn't eat tires.

What he said. That stuff is nasty to work with when the tires are eventually dismounted.

I've never used either, so I didn't know what it "really" does. Obviously I wanted the easy fix, but like usual, easy = not good!! LOL

Thanks guys!!

definitely do not do it if you have a tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) sensor on the wheels. that stuff could ruin the sensor and that could be costly, not to mention once that stuff is put in you have no chance of patching the tire if indeed you were unfortunate to pick up a nail or something. most tire places will fix flats for free.
