I am building my first Pro-touring project. This is a slightly rusted (haha) sportsroof that someone started to fix, and might have gotten scared. I have built several Mustangs over the years, and they have all been fairly tame. I wanted to buy a 2012 Boss 302 for a while, and all most ordered it, until I saw this poor thing on Fleebay and had an idea. What if I was to take the monthly car payment, plus the down payment for the Boss and build a Mustang MY way? Well, it has been going on for over a year and a half, brought this shell home all most a year ago, and haven't looked back.
Plans are to keep the shock towers, upgrade the driveline (slightly) and build a not so over the top track car that is driven on the street. The paint will stay the factory Grabber Green, and pay tribute to the "Poor Man's Boss 302". Here is what it looked like when it came out of the storage lot last June.

Here is one from the back, with some 335-35-18's that were stuck underneath for that 4x4 look.

I tore what was left of it apart, and started the rust repair. Everything in the rear of the car was replaced except for the frame rails, and parts of the inner quarter panel structure. I installed some Goodmark 2" wider inner wheel houses, along with a bunch of Dynacorn full quarters, and everything else for that matter. The floor was all but gone when it rolled in the shop, except for the tunnel. I started in the rear, just because I have never gone this way on a build, it was different, and fun.

Bunch of work, which actually came together quite nicely.

I wanted to do a few mods to the car as well. I want this to be able to handle some curves, so on the agenda is installing some convertible inner rockers, along with a one piece seat pan, along with all the under side bracing that goes along with it.

I looked for a long while before I decided on a suspension to use. I looked all over, and since I wanted to use the shock towers, it limited me to a few companies that catered to these cars. I went with a company called Street or Track, and bought a complete suspension system, coil overs, tubular control arms, 3-link rear suspension with a wats link, Full Floater 9" housing, brakes... all at one shot.

I've got all this mocked up, ready for some wheel measurements. I need to get back to the rust removal though, there is still a bunch to do.
