I have been collecting parts for a while now for a 57 chevy truck that I have but still cant decide on what to do for the front suspension. I have a c4 front suspension that I have nothing in but not sure if that will be the best way for me to go. I have searched but cant find much on the c4 stuff in these trucks. I have found a few companies that make a crossmember for the swap but not any real info on it. Has anyone done this and can tell me good or bad about it? Also with how much modifying I plan on doing to the frame would I just be better off starting from scratch and building a frame so that I could just bolt up the cradle for the c4 stuff or is there another front suspension that works well for these trucks that you could recommend? So far plans are LS 6.0, have 4l60 but may go t56, and linked 9inch. Not sure about wheels or tires yet. My goal with the truck is for it to be a very good dependable driver and would love to start doing some of the local autocross stuff.

Progressive automotive or flat out engineering for the c4 crossmember and parts. There crossmember looks lighter and way cleaner than the factory c4 cradle

Morrison, TCI custom ifs, Heidts proG, all are good handling IFS's for your truck. I too have been looking for an ifs to retro fit into a Rambler project. Frame width and WMS-WMS wise it's almost the same as your truck. I haven't decided either, too many options.

I have looked at both the crossmembers and think either would do just fine. I already have the c4 stuff in my shop that didn't cost me a thing so I'm leaning more towards it. I guess what I'm trying to ask is if I didn't have anything and had to buy something is the c4 stuff is as good or better than anything else out there for the money?

There's better stuff, Morrison sport C6 ifs or Roadster Shops (just released) ifs or DSE's new ifs. I don't know the money part, too subjective.

I think 98% of people can't drive to reach the suspension limitations of a TCI custom ifs or Heidts ProG or a Progressive C4 front anyway. I'd go the Progressive or Flat out route if you already have the C4 stuff.

Check out the 67-72 Chevy truck forum. They have a few right ups of several different 55-59 IFS's.
