new guy from the Bay Area

New guy from the bay area. Figured I should say hi. I just watched and was lucky enough to ride in Rodney's car at the Good Guys autox. I have always been into the earlier cars (1933 and 1934 Fords) and was going to build a 63 falcon 4 door for the step daughter (long story that boils down to she didn't want to invest the time). But after this past weekend fun I need to spend some time learning the rules and everything that goes along with it. This this might be a good place to start. I do know a couple of the local fast people so maybe I will spend some time talking to them along with the forum.


Hopefully I will get to meet a few people and have a good time,

you are correct Cliff there are a very few I take driving advice from(its a small circle) and Scott is one of those few, a few months back we spent about a 100 runs one weekend hashing out driving issues with myself and the car, Scott is a sharp guy

I have been meaning to comment but work has websense and most good websites and all forums are blocked. Thanks for the compliments. Hopefully a few people will show up to the AAS event this weekend in Marina. I am located in South San Jose.

Hey Scott,

The new Cobra engine should be done in about four weeks, more compression (15 to 1), bigger cam, better heads, lighter pistons and lighter crank, it should be fast. Looking forward to your
wringing it out. I also got wider front and rear wheels and a different sway bar set up. They dyno in two weeks if the crank gets done on time. I haven't been to AAX because they told me the GT was too loud to bring back but have run it at Willow and will run Fontana July 4th. I put on new A6's and it is really good especially with the sway bar link fixed

Cliff, I was pulling into Marina and I think you were leaving. Maybe next time I see you, you will have some more pictures of the build. I ended up getting sun burnt Saturday and wasn't going to continue to fry Sunday. I did get to co-drive Glenn Ellingston's insane Miata, good times.

RWC, you should come out to an AAS event. It is almost a car show with the collection of cars that run with them. You will get to meet a few of the other local guys (not sure how many you already know, I am still new to the pro-touring scene).

AAS events, have not been since my old 95 GSX Eclipse. But then if you didn't drive a vette you were not well respected :)))) But that would be a great place to take my classic once I get it, completely forgot. Much bigger/wider more HP friendly layouts than the old SCCA stuff.

This weekend should actually be a great event. The Larry Park memorial event is usually were they push the cones a little wider and open up the courses even more than the usual. If your car isn't ready I would say come out and just check out what is out there.
