hello from Croatia, europe...We dont have here experience with this motors so I need some help. I prepare for swap ls3 into bmw e36.
1. If you have +-7000$ for complete engine, like one in crate from GM, and want 450whp with low-midrange torque, do you buy crate or build engine or tune that crate with cam out of box?
2. How much cost swap cam in new crate engine (I think much lower price for work because engine is free in crate)?
3. Where I can tune and break-in this new EFI package on engine dyno? East coast US if possible.
4. I want nice muscle car lope in idle (like asa cam)
4. My emission/sniffer test want:
CO idle up to 0.50
CO 2500rpm up to 0.30
Lambda 2500rpm 0.97-1.03

thanks

muscle car lope and emissions some things just don't work well together. Luckily its a ls3, and not totally impossible. I can try to come up with a strange cam combo if you want me to. Pm if interested. Why not just get a ls3 and put a procharger on it? power goal met and still emissions met.

I used a stock LS7 cam in my LS3 and made 420whp. I bet it would easily pass emissions. Is that close enough, or do you need 450?

An E-rod crate from GM gets you close, and is warranted. Also several vendors can get you there. The E-Rod meets CARB standards which are some of the toughest in the US.

Yup, if you get a hold of a vendor, I'm sure they can tell you what standards (The #s) its held to. Someone built a 79 Camaro a while back with this engine. Made incredible power and 50 state legal. Pretty cool.
