They need a new Bumble Bee after this filming accident in DC last year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJm1w-wTomo

No one was injured but it turns out the DC cop ran his own police barrier and drove on to the set of the filming at exactly the wrong time. Obviously that scene did not make it into the final movie.

When I saw it the first thing I thought was Mr. Vengence was making some money! I'm Po'd now!

Yeah. I saw it last night and let Mr. Vengeance know immediately. They didnt even ask him. I found the info here (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/) seems Im not the only one banging this drum. Stealing from us is wrong. It's one thing to use a car like the Anvil mustang in a movie when it's an agreed upon deal. But this just chaps my hide.

discussions have been popping up all (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2013/05/bumblebees-alt-mode-confirmed-for.html) freakin over (http://jalopnik.com/bumblebee-is-a-sweet-restomod-camaro-in-transformers-4-510534512) about how Vengeance's image has been stolen.

spread the word. People need to know what's up here. This was no happy accident. It was deliberate.

Why not? its a BMF look. I believe its flattering. Im sure Amir is good with it. Maybe they will offer him some work doing design or set work, or maybe even a Transformer clothing line.

oh hey Tony!!

Imagine if your car was jarjar binks indeed. Yeah but its not, its a bad ass. Remember how the 2010 bumble bee grew the popularity of the 5th Gen? Just think about what its going to do for the Street Fighter movement? Everyone is looking at it like its a bad thing. I see expansion.

I didn't get mad when Egarage built a Riviera that resembled my car 6 years after I built mine... I just stood back and said "Yeah I started that *****".

(De-rail) Yeah been a long time Tony, everything good? I have a two year old and another coming in September.

EDIT: I din't see that thread....I guess he is taking it opposite of what I thought. Being an innovator and artist I assumed he would be happy. IMHO, his looks better.

So if i wanted to put fender flares on a 1st gen camaro I'd have to ask mr. V for permission first? Cause that's all I see that could remotely relate to vengeances car, everything else is a common modification amoungst camaros.

Two of the most realistic quotes from link provided

Sue and split the winnings between the first flat black camaro owner, the 240Z and 510 owners that inspired your fender flares.

Shouldn't you be finding the shop that worked on / designed the car? They are commissioned by the studio execs to make him "tough" and "vintage" in the exact same year and car that you own... so the shop took to the internet to get inspiration for a bad-ass restomod / streefighter look and guess what - your car is plastered all over the 'net so you can guess what happens next.
They also didn't copy anything. You don't own the rights to the design nor is it an original work (most is just existing products aside from some custom fab). You don't sell conversion kits that they didn't purchase and you don't have an authority on muscle car design languages...So what exactly are you supposed to do?.

let me preface this with "im not saying this to be a ****..." but they didnt really rip anyone off...and when you drive/ build / own a first gen camaro- everything has pretty much been done-not saying that i dislike the cars even a little bit , but everyone is ripping off someone when you have unofficially the most popular muscle car ever...just my two cents and if it were me i would be pretty excited about it

No. you're not selling anything. Flares arent what make that car. the audi door handles, the honda mirrors, that set of wheels, the flares, the blacked out wing windows, the filled front vents in the lower valance, and the carbon spoilers and his grille all make up to the overall design of the Vengeance camaro.

No one is saying that another person cant run those wheels, or paint their car flat black, but it's the details that set us apart that make this hobby what it is. when you copy *every* aspect of someone's car and change the color of a stripe and think it's enough, you're missing the point of what we do.

So we know for certain, without a doubt, that the Paramount car has copied all the exact attributes of Mr Vengance? I'm not even a Camaro guy, and the Vengence Camaro looks different enough to the Transformer version, that I wouldn't call it plagerism. Sure, they are both black, with flares, and the honda mirrors, but rip off? The wheels are different, the paint is different, spoiler brackets are different. I've seen other 1st gens with blocked off valance openings. How different can you really get with this car in which more exist now than were ever originally made by the factory?

BTW, looking at the Vengence renderings, was permission gained to use a representation of a go-bot style female form with wheels, tires, and panels? Is that not ripping off the transformers concept in a more stylized and less mechanical presentation?

I was around the shop where the work started on Vengeance .
It was cool to see the body and flares come together ..
Now it's really cool to see it get so much attention .
It's funny , I've sat all in that car when it was being built.
And moved it's engine around on a pallet jack ..
It's fun to see it on a national stage now .

While different people can have the same ideas, the combination of parts is just a little too specific to be random.

I keep wondering if my hood mechanism will show up in one of their movies?? It actually does look like a transformers car when in action.

well.. like the other thread..

my car with some yellow on the front.. naaaaah.. looks nothing like it..

and different wheels huh?.. then why did they ask NewGen to do the same exact wheel centers (that they dont do anymore) and even down to the same powdercoating.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2013/06/Screenshot20130603at112545AM-1.png

nah but im crazy right?

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2013/06/Screenshot20130603at112524AM-1.png

even the same backspacing NOT KNOWING what had to be done to keep all that meat under the skin enough to have NICE flares.

other than that.. Its flattering!

Im not mad at it.. its just the principles are wrong.. plus folks saying that my car isnt anything original and special.. you dont even know what was done to this car cause the modifications are so subtle that you wouldnt see right off the bat.. only the obvious things.

saying things like "nothing on that car is all that custom and you can buy EVERY piece and put it on a 67 camaro and youll make that car."

really?

ill give you an example..

how about the grille?

can you just walk into summit and buy this?

I've read the different threads on this and how it's a form of flattery, blah, blah, blah. While I agree that trying to do anything to make a first Gen completely unique is frankly an almost impossible task. We, as a group of enthusiasts, have to turn to the subtleties to try and make our cars unique. Case in point, I'm trying to pick a colour for my '67, that is less common. I was all ready to go with a choice and I saw two early Camaros the same colour within a week so back to square one.

Regardless if anyone agrees or not, can anyone really honestly say they've seen cars with the same level of detail at any car show or event that looks like the Vengence Camaro? While I don't agree with the talk of sueing I do agree with calling them out on it. In my opinion, I feel contacting them and discussing your concerns are justified. Give them a choice, buy the car then they can do as they please and you get to tell everyone yes it is in fact your car that the movie car is based on. Or, get a credit on the movie for inspiring their version of Bumble Bee.

When people start pointing at your car and saying you've copied the movie you will have to sell it, or re-paint it because it will drive you crazy. It would me.

Think I got a good name for their version---- Lost In Translation. ??? much was lost there. Most real car people already know who 's car was first anyways.

And Derrik, fyi, people constantly ask what's involved in doing an electric hood mechanism like mine (which kids identify as something from transformers) , the Camaro nose conversion , my steel ground effects( not in posted pic) & a few other of my later ideas. Well known artist Steve Stanford actually had an article in Hot Rod magazine picturing a new Camaro nose on an el camino about the same time I got my hands on a 2009 wrecked fascia. So Derrik, maybe you could find a new hobby besides criticizing members on this forum.

For the record, there is a new bumble bee in the latest body style for this movie it just seems to have not been photo'd yet. Clearly they have copied this car but i'm not 100% if its going to be the main bumble bee character.

For all of you that do not realize the importace of asking permission before using someone elses designs to infact add to plot linies further escalating the value and appearance of a movie, read this: (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/warner-bros-settles-hangover-ii-203377) This was over a tattoo, not a whole car.
