hello,
was wondering if anybody has some first hand experience with the wiring of 69 camaro running lights..When i got the car, turn signals/running lights did not work. now i have front turn signals working and both rear turn signals work fine..including side marker lights in the rear (front does not have any hooked up)..but when i pull headlight knob halfway out, the running lights in the front do not turn on, but rear side marker lights and tail lights turn on (not the brake lights). are they suppose to turn on originally from the factory?

the reason i ask, is i purchase some really nice led running lights and would like to have them functional...although the brighter led turn signal is nice...

a little info:

car had painless 18 circuit harness installed...i see wires labeled "front park lights" that are not connected on either side...(dont know where these go)
currently have purple wire connected to corresponding dark blue and light blue wires and black to ground (battery)...

thanks for the help..if anybody needs anymore info to help me out..please let me know..im sorry if i sound like im all over the place, just been frustrated with this issue...

Pull the headlight switch halfway out, and the front parking lamps and tail lights should be ON.

I am not familiar with the Painless 18 circuit harness... I used American Auto Wire.

77thor, thanks for your reply..i have tried that..but nothing changes on the running lights..when i pull the switch halfway out, the interior dash lights light up and the side marker lights turn on, although only on the rear because the fronts are not connected yet..so that is why i was wondering if there is anything else i need or missing...

Double check your connector pins, I have had to correct a couple miswired harnesses.

If you are local you can swing it by the shop for a look see.

front park lights are the lights in the front valance also know as driving lights.

MrQuick, thanks, I did have to check the steering column adapter because my turn signals would work sometimes and sometimes not...they ended up being loose..so i cleaned off the connecting ends with wire brush and pressed them in nice and tight and turn signals work now...what other connector pins should i look for? also, i did replace the headlight and High beam swith a few weeks ago..i assume both are in good working order..thanks for your help...where is your shop located? im in san jose..

the ones I have been finding are at the headlight switch connector itself. I have had to swap a couple wires. Just put in wrong. Im in San Carlos across 101 from the Hilard air museum.

ohh...even if the headlights work fine, they can still be switched around? forgive me, im still learning how to work on my own car, and have basically taught myself (with the help of resources like books and sites like this)...do you happen to know where i can find a picture of how the headlight plug wires should be located? car previously came with painless wiring kit installed....thanks again

Well,
it was a few months ago when i was frustrated with the whole driving lights issue, i ended up not messing with them anymore, since they worked when headlight switch was pulled out half-way, and headlights worked when pulled out all the way (BUT consequently running lights would turn off). Well out of nowhere i decided to give it a go again, i had just finished installing JW speaker evolution LED headlights and wanted both running lights and headlights to work at same time like they should. I saw posted on a chevelle forum a possible solution and figured i would try it. It ended up being the "new" painless wiring harness was wired differently at the headlight switch. I moved the furthest wire (brown/yellow i believe) on the headlight switch to one of the open terminals on the harness plug and plugged it back in, and VOILA!!!!!!

All this time i had given up on them, NOW they work as they should, the painless harness was hooked up wrong, and it was a simple fix, but a pain in the rear fix..well anyways, im happy now..i hope this helps someone...
