I'm not sure of the correct terminology here. I'm building a center console for my Nova and I'm considering reserving a place for a LCD/LED screen. Question, does anyone in the aftermarket make a system to transfer the functionality of a smartphone (via usb/bluray, etc) to the screen? I'd have searched but I'm not sure what keywords I would use. Thanks. -Bob

HDMI cable to your smart phone this makes your phone able to hook up to a regular TV not sure about LCD screens if they have the hookup

Well ok - can't be much simpler than that - has anyone done this and have a recommendation for a screen? Thanks. -Bob

If you want to be able to use the new screen as a touch screen, you can't just use any monitor. If you just want to mirror what's on your phone, then any monitor will do, as long as it has a 12v power supply.

Right, the monitor has to have touchscreen capability and needs drivers - I guess the drivers would come with the screen or they are generic as an app download to the phone? A little research indicates resolution seems to be something to be careful with also.

It sounds like you might be better off building a tablet into your dash. Problem solved, unless you want to have the phone functionality.

How about a mini iPad or Samsung Galaxy tab. That's my plan. Shouldn't be too hard with some ingenuity

you could do a carputer and do a remote desktop to your phone.

a car pc is a good thing to look into. I built one for my car (and even for a boat) and really enjoyed it (i have pics and video on request)... but that being said.. it does require a fair amount of setup and you are relying on the windows platform. the upside is that you can go crazy with customization. you can have it control your windows, hv/ac, practically anything. If you're looking into the pc route be careful about which monitor you choose, I had a vert and the display was nearly unreadable in direct sunlight. i'd go to www.adafruit.com and check out the pixel qi display they have. it looks very promising for in car applications

mimics x2 is another option:

and last is acutally using your phone.. these was a kickstarter project a while back:

Pioneer's App Radio line might get the job done too.
