Chicayne -- one of a kind car and an automotive work of art... plus it hauls ass

The black AAR Cuda by Matt Murphy.. HEMI, IRS, AAR what more is there?

Big Red -- Just because I want to open road race it so bad..

The Mule.. because 1000hp is just so hip..

The list goes on and on...

In no order: Steve Chryssos' 68, Big Red, Chris Kerr's 68, The Mule. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch, too.

I see two catagories here: Form over function, and function over form. Either way I like too many cars to have a favorite.

Two of my favorites:

1. The Black 69 has been in a bunch of mags, just plain and simple badas-. I think it's know as "Battle Axe", but not sure.

2. The Hotchkis Camaro was the car encouraged me to get mine on the road again. My first taste of Pro-touring, and I was hooked immediately.

-Tig Man's '78 Camaro
-Mike Face's Chevelle

All very unrefined
all very brutal
all very fast

i'm kinda partial to hal baers 69 fastback. it is the car that made me start thinking about actually driving the car instead of just hanging on for a quarter mile.

Me likes that car too....it was also my inspiration for building a car to handle as well as accelerate....Before they moved to Phoenix Baer Racing was located in Dallas. I used to see Hals Mustang running around when it had 16" Ronal R9's on it.

Too many nice cars for me to pick a #1 but Twinsting and JP's Chevy II are right at the top. There's a Blue 57 Chevy hardtop out there with complete with ZR-1 chassis, drivetrain and interior that may be my favorite.
Of course,I love what I'm driving and building.

I'm with Steve number one has to be the Chicayne!

Mostly because not only does it look great but it hauls butt as well.. it is a very well put together car. And it is unique..

My favorites are the ones I haven't built yet, but will someday.

Mule with the TT setup is probably my favorite overall.
Year One 69 pacecar inspired me to build my previous '69.
That black Cuda is one bad mofo too. Saw it on Power Tour

just too many to list, I have many favorites.

I have to go with Chicane also. Every time you look at you see something you missed the last time you saw it. The rollbar in the car is a work of art - not to mention where are all the fasteners? The list goes on and on and on and on top of all that it's driven.

well there are soo many beautiful cars out there. I think every car between lateral-g's web site and this site are all great cars in there own way. Everyone has their own unique car styles.

Rumor has it: Project Old School is the most amazing machine you will ever see. If Only the owner would get the car done!

For inspiration i use the two cars that got me into this Pro-touring thing so long ago.

The Twister The Super Rod article was just Stunning
The Thrasher Wasnt that a great series of articles.

The Mule is also one of the greatest but to Flashy for my.

In no particular order:
Chicayne
Orange and White 56' 210 built by the Terzich's that won SMOY in 2003?
Pigford's Nova.
The 36' Chrysler Airflow "Rareflow" that sold on Barrett Jackson for $550K!
Sickfish
I guess I could go on forever.....

The mule is flashy?

Compared to a rat rod maybe.. I think the Mule is pretty darn understated at first glance.. well, until you open the hood.. lol

I guess I would have two lists.. the big buck show car list with cars like Chicayne and the "average joe" list that would have cars like Stevo's '68 on it..

I have a long list of favorites with many ties.. If I had Jay Leno's cash you would all be driving Honda's and I would have a hell of a car collection residing in a gutted out super Walmart.. ;)

08-23-2005, 10:28 AM
The Mule is all about function...just in a highly refined way. There are no shaved and tucked in bumpers, fabricated inner fender panels in the engine compartment, belly pans, diffusers, or even 20's. Its just a highly engineered 69 Camaro. From the outside it could be any 69 Camaro with a good paint job and some wheels. That is the kind of car I like. One where the dynamics (engine, suspension) have been re-engineered but the wrapper is subtle and mostly, if not completely original. .

My favorite production line car of all time: 1981-1982 Ford Granada/Mercury Cougar (sedan, not XR-7)

My favorite show cars: Big ,Challenger X, and Dust'Ya, all built by Steve Strope

Steve not only did I say penny is one of my favorites, but you and I agree on the mule not being flashy! See , we get along.

My car is as low key as it gets and I dont think the mule is flashy.

I have also seen battleax in the flesh and its a sweet car. :)

Ok Flashy was the wrong word. I love the car but it too nice for a shlub to just hop in and criuse the streets in and not be afraid of the other idiots on the road.

The other cars have a look about them that is more inviting to run hard even thought the Mule could be ridden harder...

Was the top of my list.. and the owner really drives it HARD.. well, when Troy lets him have it.. lol..

Just a very well engineered and sorted out car that also happens to be a work of art.. and it stands out in a crowd..

Hey, you're good in my book.. Being from CA I have always been taugh that all NY'ers are a-holes.. glad it was just propaganda.. :)

And thanks for thinking of Penny but she really only looked pro-touring.. but that will be changing soon..

That is my understanding as well.. It is Troy's favorite car and he is always making excuses to keep it at the shop.. Good thing the owner is very busy running his empire..

It really is a funny story.. the owner jumped in "his" car at Hershey and stole it for a few hours.. it came back the Ti headers were all discolored form pounding on the car.. lol..

Steve,

A bit off topic, but did you ever run your Orange 68 down to Fuddrucker's in Lake Forest on a Tuesday night a month or so ago? That car looks very familiar.

Regards,
Rich
