Hello everyone on pro-touring gmachines.I am new to this forum so it is safe to say that i have questions about way increase the handling of the suspension of my gbody chasis.I am a newbie so yes i will admit that i am cluesless to some of the the modification that can be done to improve the chassis. So i have choosen to become a member so i become knowledgeable as the pros on this forum that has great advance and basic knowlegde about the chassis
Now for my question here it goes,I have a 1980 monte carlo,a 1980 pontiac lemans and a 1991 gta. What i want to know right is what modes can i do to my g bodies as far as making my cars handle better, become more responsive, predictable and less tricky in higher speeds. When i drive over 90 mph my cars feels unstable or loose,I also witness that they can not corner well at high speeds,I would go as far as saying the cars are like driving a wheel barrel at high speeds. How can i correct these issues with my g body cars.So i can at least have stable control that are similar to the modern hot rods that are out today.

First of all Welcome to the site! There are a bunch of very knowledgeable people here and along with that there are also many different ways to accomplish your goal... I am a personal fan of DSE & Ridetech products which ALL correct the geometry issues of the G-Body platform. Ridetech just came out with their "Tru-Turn" system which Optimizes bump-steer to under .065" through 5" of suspension travel.
Are you talking about just adding some basic mods to your car at first or go to a "complete" suspension package that will give you the all around handling your looking for?
For people looking to upgrade their cars handling a little bit I usually recommend the following: Keep in mind the crummy geometry of the G-body is not corrected with these upgrades!
Sway Bars
Any braces you can add
17" - 18" wheels & Low profile tires
I have a 1986 Buick T-Type that we autocross on a regular basis and it handles Great!

Welcome, you are @ the right place. I'm a fan of using SC&C parts see his link to the right ->
For me the First thing would be to invest in the best shocks you can afford I like Bilsteins my self for daily drivers not crazy expensivee but a great value for the money, then you need to correct the bad geometry that came from the factory and eliminate the bump-steer. This is accomplished by the relocation of the spindlel and lowering the cars center of gravity, allot of us g-body guys do this with Tall ball joints , Adjustable upper A-arms and lowering springs. Then I would look @ a good Sway bar front and back. just doing thees few thing will have a dramatic change in your driveablity, you can then move on to the powerstering box and rear arms to complete the package.
