Hi Guys,

I'm now ready to pull the trigger on a new set of wheels/tires for my 1970 Camaro, and since I'm so obsessed by the protouring look of these cars, I insist on having the BF Goodrich 335/30-18 KDW2 tires on the back, and since I don't have the money/time to do any extensive rear end mods, I have decided to widen the rear fenders by using what the pie-cutting method, I went to a local body shop and the guys there are really good on what they are doing, but they are asking for some more info and pics of this method just to be sure. what I'm looking to fit is a 18x11 in. wheels with a 5.75 BS, and based on that I need to bulge out at least 1.5 in. from the rear fenders.

Anyone got any info to share with me? pics?

Thanks,,,

Do you have the new shoes? Get them before you cut anything.
Once you have them bolt them in place and get some nice straight on pics of the rear fender. From the side, front, rear and top. Print out a few and do some sketching.
Work in the top view first. Move the wheel opening out past the tire bulge by at least a half inch. This includes the inner lip. Now blend the new lip location smoothly back into the front and rear of the fender (in the top view). Those points, where the "new" outline touches the old fender, is where you will be massageing the fender to start pointing it toward the new lip. Once you get a few pics doctored up you should be able to see where the cuts will be needed to get the old tin moved to the new shape.
