I have a 71 RS and it came with no frame side motor mounts, which sucks since I can't find them anywhere online. I am going to drop in an LS3 and I am looking for some advice on what are the best frame side replacements mounts and what is the best LS motor side mounts to use. I would like to go with some SW or Kooks long tube headers and I am looking for the best mounts for clearance with the least amount of manhandling if possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:banghead:

The SW headers come with the engine side mounts so if you get the Stainless Works headers you will not have to worry about that part. I have sold a few of these and they fit great

If I went with BB motor mount towers what would you suggest for Motor side mounting options? Which would also work with the SW plates?

Thanks for you reply

Typically when you use BBC mounts, you get nothing but problems....unless the headers were designed using these mounts. The BBC mounts set the engine lower. When the engine sets lower, so do the headers. Then you will have a ground clearance issue. IF the headers were designed using the BBC mounts, then use the BBC mounts. The key to all of the headers on the market working, is what (EXACTLY) was used to design them. I have included two links that should help. I not saying one brand is better or worse than any other. They all seem like pretty good products to me. The key is, using the headers in a fitup they were designed for. Here are the links:

Hope this helps.

Holley just came out with a new second get mount kit. You should check it out.

I went with the BRP Hotrods kit for my 71 Z, both their mounts and ceramic headers. Nice stuff!!! I have had the motor in and out a couple of times with no issue. I have some pictures if it would help???

tazimm, pictures would be a great help, I would also like to know what sort of mods you had to do in order to get that T56 to fit. I am thinking about putting a Magnum T56 or a TKO 600 from Hurst. I was also looking at the BRP kit which would solve my motor mount problem.
Again any pictures and tips on the trans swap would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

So... Probably more pictures than you needed but I thought some of this would help. I need to start a build thread, folks here have helped a ton!!! Please let me know if you have questions...

Oh tazimm thank you so much for posting these pics this is great!!! Sorry for such a late response this looks really good, and you had no issue with clearance on the steering linkage?
What accessory set up are you using??

Also you are running a T56 and that is the only surgery you had to do on the tunnel, I have been told you need to open up the tunnel a bit to get the right angle for the drive line, that is why I was thinking about going with the TKO 600.....Let me know your thoughts in that space too

Thank you much!!
