OK, here's the deal- Have an 83 el Camino, started collecting stuff, including front suspension parts for a build (AFX spindles, Hotchkiss upper arms [for an Impalas spindle change before I saw the light]
Sooooo
I got a smokin' deal on a 65 el Camino, and the wife says one or the other.
Contacted a few suppliers who tell me no way to adapt their parts, others have been very helpful selling me the bits that make adaptation possible, and provide information to assist the change in direction. Kudos to Currie, Spohn, and Fays for their help.
OK the question at hand. Some of the parts I had for the front suspension I was getting no help from the suppliers, pretty clear they were just looking at part numbers that were different, so no way to interchange. I'm looking to see if the forum can help. What I'm looking for is the relationship of the pickup points for the 65 vs. 83 to see if the parts I have can be modified to fit and still meet functional requirements.
I accept that it may not be possible, or economic to do this, but I want to understand why, not just get a "No" from some sales drone. When I spoke to Fays, Spohn, and Currie, I made it clear I didn'twant to compromise function with some kludged together deal to save a few bucks, but didn't want to spend a pile of money a second time just because of a different shippable part number. They came through. I want to see if I can use the parts I have and what it will take to modify them.
Thanks in advance for your help.
