having tried to source an LSA or an LS3 i found it made more economic sense to but the crate motors. The junk yards ect want to sell the whole thing, accessories ect for 6-10K for me since the accessories don't work for me and I want more power/better trans.. its not worth it. If you want to put a stock ls2 and can use the accessories and trans then it can get close to being a good route.
you shroud be able to pick up a sub 50K Mile LS2 with six spped + harness and accessories in the 5K range..

How many hp are you shooting for? I found a block and heads on ls1tech, pieced together fbody accessories and oil pan, cam and found a gmpp harness here. I am probably 3k into that. Another 2k into the stroker roatating assembly and probably 3k into machine work. It took me about two years to score all of those parts. Might have been cheaper and certainly quicker to buy a crate motor.

if you guys are ready to pull the trigger we maybe able to get a group buy somewhere.. PM me Those are good deals. Knowing what I know now, the parts will nickel and dime you on these engines. I will have a cammed stroker for just a hair over what I could have bought that crate for so I am happy for more cubes and the cam of my choice, but I have a lot of time invested in hunting down deals. That 480hp crate motor may be on the list for a future project.

The crate is nice and 95% cheaper than most junkyards and I dont need the acc either. But I hate to pull a cam out of a new engine to put in another cam. I dont want to go to a car show and there is 6 other guys with the same engine lol. But the crate is a great engine.

Those hot cams should bring some return on investment if you decide to swap the cam. I would imagine that the 480 and 525 HP crate versions come with upgraded springs.

I called a few Vendors.. I gave a start of the LS3 480 estimating 5. Need 4 more names including myself and a list of anything else that may sweeten the pot for them to go deeper on the discount.
Personally i asked for flywheel starter, pilot beating clutch and bell housing.
Please send needs and level of commitment/timeline needed.. technically this isn't a "group buy" per Se but they are offering potential discount for a large buy.
Skoggin Dickey is who is digging in to try to provide a discount. https://sdparts.com/

Skoggin Dickey will probably offer the best deal. Pace Parts might also.
I would look into getting the GMPP controller kits. They are a good deal and use the excellent E67 ECU and come complete with all the little parts, like the MAF, O2 sensors and bungs, pedal, etc....

Here is how it works. we tell the Scoggin dickey guy what we want.. he goes back to his boss and get's a price.. is their a price breakdown. NO not until we get a list so he can work form totals... if you want to get a "feel" look in their website most of the retail prices are listed... just need to know what your interested in so i can give the guy a list to go from .. its pretty basic.. he gets a total.. then based on the sum he can provide X% discount... I doubt very highly your going to get a sliding scale here... but you welcome to call scoggin Dickey extension 383 ask for Travis and ask yourself... i would love to get out of the middle here ..
here is what i have..
Icemanard LS480
paul 68 ls480/525 plus controller
Cdog LS525
XLT (me) LS480 QT bellhousing, Starter, clutch, flywheel and throwout bearing.
we need 1 more motor think to get a meaningful discount... 5 is what he wanted Min. (apparently their is a 30K minimum for jobber like discounts)

Look at the SD website and look up their published price on whatever you want. Then assume it will be slightly less. In other words, just think of the discount as a bonus...

I guess i am confused as to why we are tyring to set up a group buy with SD or anyone else then??? Jegs already has the 525 hp motor listed 130 dollars cheaper and they offer free shipping which is another 2-300 dollars. I though the point was if we got a very large order for one buisness we would get a much better savings not just a little bonus.

Hey Jesse is their anymore room in these? Not to be difficult or disrespectful but since I am able to find better deals easily without buying 10 (for each of the motors you quoted)... I want to do whats best... If you cant compete on the motors but can provide deep discounts on other things it may be worth it.. but the numbers are not what I expected for a large order like 10 engines...

I've beat every price i could find online, I'm here, I'm doing what I can to support you guys. We have a capability to support you beyond the average dealer in service, parts availability, and experience in this field.
480 for $6400 shipped? I beat that price already, although the best I've seen is 6424 plus 200 shipping unless you live in close proximity to that dealer. So I beat them by 100 to a small portion of buyers and 300 to most. We are working inside a very tight window here. I also have the parts to support the purchase, the face here on your site answering to you, the expertise to help get you through anything you have a question with, and the desire to do what I can to help you guys.
I'm doing the best I can to help and will gladly continue to do so with an active presence here. Let me know what else I can do for you!

Jesse the idea was for a quanity discount not the next closest thing + or minus 100 bucks to what can be found via Google.. having to hold off to gather a large order is an inconvenience to a consumer and one that justifies a bigger discount. Realizing that GM keeps these motors very tight on margin, my suggestion would be to figure out a way to make the whole deal more economically viable.. One way is to provide deep discount on other items like harness's flywheels starters ect... things that are much easier to find room in. Just my humble opinion.
For those still interested in finding a larger discount please let me know if you want to keep looking or wait for a better number or tell me to STFU.. either is fine with me I am happy to go my own way if needed..
For the Mod, members and Vendors... Please dont take my comments as negative. I am not trying to be a S#$%^ starter... I completely understand this is not easy for Jesse No disrespect implied or intended.. it's just business..

I am out .. the prices are not what is expected...
Its neither rocket science nor a deal... having worked in the business for close to 20 years it's been my experience that ~100K sale warrants anywhere from 15% to 20% I have no interest in steering a big $ dollar deal for these kinds of "discounts" It's Simply not worth it..

The deal mentioned in this thread is definitely a good deal for someone who was going to buy an LS3 anyways. Saving any amount of money is a bonus when this is the case. Usually group purchases especially ones that require a large # of folks creates a discount in which individuals who were not going to buy, end up buying because the deal is so good. Competitive pricing is tough with today's large market with places like Summit and JEGs in the game...they will match anyone's' price....I'm usually grateful for any discount I can get....

I know , having worked in GM Parts for a long time , that there isn't a big markup on the GM Crate engines at any dealer or distributor .
For the prices that most of the dealers are selling them for online , there just isn't enough markup to discount them 15 to 20% more .
It doesn't matter how many you buy in volume .
The prices that Scoggins Dickey and Pace are advertising are about rock bottom.
There is not much further thay can go.

If you are looking for an LS3 and transmission, try gmperformancemotor.com. I ordered my "connect and cruise" package last week and received the gm $500 rebate plus another $500 rebate from Gandrud. I had my engine/trans in 2 days and my Gandrud rebate in 5 days. I asked Pace if they could match the Gandrud price because I wanted to order my front drive, engine mounts and crossmember, headers and oil pan from one source and they said no. Scoggins Dickey also would not match the Gandrud price.
